DOes Main street bakery sell whole cakes to go? Or do they have really awesome cupcakes?
I was thinking , rather then get a cake from CP for DS birthday, I would pick up one if they allow it , or cupcakes, and then I could pick what I want, rather then calling and hoping(and since I cant get a fancy one like from GF).
Any info? Thanks

I don't know about the cakes at MSB, but you do have another option. Boardwalk Bakery makes cakes that can be ordered in advance and picked up at the bakery. You don't need to be dining at a Boardwalk area restaurant or staying at the Boardwalk to get a cake from them. That's the option we go with. They don't do the super fancy stuff like the GF does, but they still make very nice and cute cakes. Lots of fillings and decorating options to choose from (i.e. screened images, hand painted white chocolate characters, the white chocolate castle, etc.).

thanks for the info- we will be in the park all day and going right into Crystal Palace to eat diner, so I wanted to just to go into Main St. Bakery and get one on the way. I dont want to loose all of the time getting to Boardwalk and back. I appreciate the helpful info though.

Your child will get a complimentary decorated cup cake at CP, so if that's enough you don't need to do anything else.

Disney also now has some party favor bags you can pre order. That maybe another way to acknowledge the event.

Its his First birthday and first cake, so looking for a bit more special.(but we wont be there on his actual Bday). I wanted a nice disney cake and pics in a great place. Plus we ALL like cake:thumbsup2

Then I wouldn't get one for a meal at all. I'd get one and do a celebration in the room. That way you can he can be super messy and you can leave the extra cake in the room for grazing later. Even bring your Disney party favors from home.

If you get one at for CP you'll either have to lug the cake back to the room, give it other diners or staff or toss it. You'll also potentially miss the dessert bar at CP by filling up on bday cake.

If the bday is in his record he may still get the Mickey decorated cup cake at CP so you'd get a second set of photos there. We had this at Chef Mickey's for my nephew who was turning 6. He got the cupcake, a laminated placemat that he ate on almost daily for the next year and they acknowledged him during the napkin waving song; a very cute experience. By the way, he only ate the icing anyway. :rolleyes1 We'll be back to Chef Mickey's this trip, trying dinner instead of bfast.

Good luck with your precious moment!

thanks- I may try to call and see what I can get ahead. I dont want the cake in room, it looses the fun of being in disney, imo. I would like a few pics with him with charecters then one if him with a "disney" cake and candles for scrapbook. I was hoping for a small cake, there are 4 of us (that is why I dont want to special order a 10" one and would rather just buy a small or get a really nice cupcakes-better then the free one). If there is left overs, I wouldnt take it with me anyway.

LOL< my older DS devoured every last piece of cake!

Are you familiar with the "podium" cake?" You simply tell the CM when you check in that you want one. They are about 6" and I think vanilla or chocolate iced. It won't be fancy decorated, but I think you may be able to get a Happy Bday msg. Those are available at any TS restaurant for about $15 as a spur of the moment order. So if you can't get what you want at MSB, that can be your fall back. Perhaps call the WDW-DINE line to see if the Happy Bday msg could be added, I'm just not sure of the policy.

I have not been able to find the link about the pre order party packs, but there were some really cute, not overly expensive options there too. That is a new program Disney launched some time last year. I think things like Mickey sprinkles, hats, etc. were some of the things you could order to be at your table when you arrive.
