I am so bummed to hear this. I love a good Starbucks coffee any day of the week, so I was glad to hear of it coming to the Disney parks, but not at the expense of the Main Street Bakery!!!!! What the heck are they thinking?

I don't like Starbucks coffee at all and their rolls taste like the putrid rolls at a wholesale club. Are they taking over the Main Street Bakery?

there's a thread about this on the restaurants board. Im disgusted that they would do this. Closing main street bakery for Starbucks? Sad if you ask me. They had the best ice cream sandwiches! Amongst other things. :( Bad move Disney.

As mentioned in the other thread about this, I don't think they're going to get rid of Main Street Bakery in it's entirety, but rather that it will be an overhaul inside to accomodate Starbucks AND the traditional Disney treats & such.

This article was posted in the other thread - http://networkedblogs.com/Ey4YF - and it states...

The Siren will be making its debut at the Magic Kingdom in the Main Street Bakery.

I'm not too concerned about Disney 'fumbling' this or anything, as I'm very pleased with the Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe here at DCA. :goodvibes

If they continue to offer the same food they currently offer, then I don't have a problem with it. Starbucks coffee being available in the Main Street Bakery would be great. But the article I read implied that it would only offer typical Starbucks food and beverages, and that the Main Street Bakery would be completely gone. I will be horribly disappointed if that turns out to be the case. I can go to Starbucks anywhere. That isn't where I want to go when I'm on Main Street.

The Starbucks at DCA offers both regular Starbucks food items as well as traditional Disney bakery items. I would imagine the one at WDW will be the same.

Theres an article on the first page on the Dis. It says the Main Street Bakery will close in January and be turned into a Starbucks.

This is so sad! They can put a Starbucks up anywhere in the park (If they must)
But not there. :(

Come on Disney this is just TOO much.......

I am not opposed to Starbucks, lord knows they need some decent coffee. Not that I really like Starbucks. but it is better than what they have.

Also, while not a real fan of the bakery's food, it is something that I do love to go in and actually purchase something because to me, it is 100% DISNEY. It just wouldn't be the same if they got rid of it.

There's a thread on *every* board about this. I don't know why it seems to be getting so much attention today ~ it was announced (and discussed to death on the TPAS) months ago. :confused3

This is the first I have seen about the Main Street Bakery.

I guess its just the thought of change that is bothering us.
Somethings are better left as is. The Main Street Bakery is one of them.

I can tell you what Disney was thinking: they weren't. I don't like adding such mainstream places inside the parks. There is a reason why Walt Disney wanted the parks away from all of that when he made the plans for WDW.

It ruins the whole story telling perspective that Disney is famous for and strives to achieve in their parks. I don't see how Starbucks plays into that.

Wow. People need to calm down. They are not going to turn it completely into a Starbucks. Yes they will start serving Starbucks coffee and some Starbucks food items. But if you read the Disney Blogs post the theming will remain the same. If I remember correctly it will become a blend of the MSB and Starbucks. Kinda like what they did at DCA, though I can't remember the name of the location.

Disney had McDonald's, the current biggest sponsor is Coca-Cola, Nescafe, Edy's, Dole, Ocean Spray, etc etc etc. Disney is full of brand names.

If anyone has seen pics of how they incorporated Starbucks into DCA, I think all the hysterics would stop.

That is such a shame. Not that I'd ever be able to go back to it since I can not foresee us ever being able to afford a trip to DW ever again.

Just think how much more expensive it would be without corporate sponsorships. Most people wouldn't be able to afford even one trip in a lifetime.

I agree!

I think people are more upset that there is the possibility of loosing such a classic piece of WDW to another franchise that we see every day on the street corner. If a person wanted to go to Starbucks they could do so elsewhere and there are more ways to tactfully introduce a Starbucks into MK. (I do see blending it as loosing it, but hey, it's not the end of the world).

I haven't read any article that says that they are keeping MSB food anywhere. I have read it will be serving Starbucks coffees and snacks. If they were planning to keep any of MSB food, like their famous cinnamon rolls, you would think they would be stating that loud and clear, but they are not. The food just keeps getting worse and worse at WDW. I can walk to Starbucks any day.

LOL.

I'm a lewis black fan, has anyone ever seen the bit he does on the end of the universe and starbucks?

Google it. I don't want to link because it has salty language and the dis police will give me a violation
