Main Pool at BWI...plenty of chairs and shady spots?

Only 6 more days to go :cool1:

I know we will be spending a lot of time at the pool. I am one of those chicks that was a SUN WORSHIPPER all through my teens and 20s and now I hate the damamge I have done to my skin, so I avoid direct sun whenever possible (kinda hard to do while walking around the parks...but I use plenty of SPF and a big, floppy hat!) I keep from being ghostly white by applying sunless tanner regularly. Jergen's Natural Glow is GREAT!

Anyhoo...I digress... I want to hang out by the pool at the Boardwalk where we will be staying, but if there are no shady spots, I just can't do it. I don't want to feel like I have to rush around in the morning to get a good spot. Any insight into this? Are there also tables with umbrellas? I know we will want to be near the slide as that is probably where DD (she is 6 1/2) will want to spend all her time. Thanks!

If I remember correctly, there are no chairs in the shade near the slide. We sat in chairs at the little hot tub that is near the slide, but it was definitely not in the shade. There are lots of chairs and tables, most of the ones that are in the shade are at the other end of the pool from the slide, though. You were always able to find a chair during the day when we were there, but we found we enjoyed the quiet pool more. The main pool was loud and busy and the quiet pool was almost always empty. Have fun, we LOVED the Boardwalk.

Depends on the time of day and where the sun is!!! You can get an umbrella table but they do tend to get grabbed fast. There are chaises in the shade, but they usually aren't close to the slide. I would suggest that you be in the pool when your dd is on the slide, rather than on a chaise. That's what we did for the first day or so with my dd and she is a fish at almost 12. But we just felt better knowing whether or not she was able to handle the slide before leaving her alone on it.
But, you can get chaises further back, under the trees. I also like to be in the shade, but they aren't close to the side of the pool.

Thanks for the replies!

Goodferry-First of all...Zoe is a DOLL! Also, I know I would prefer the quiet pool, but DD will be "all about the slide!" So I have resigned myself to the fact that pool days will be spent at the main pool!

goofy4tink-Yes, my DH will be in the pool with our little princess (who is also a great swimmer.) But The "QUEEN" (that is me, LOL) shall be sitting her royal heiny on a chair, sipping a drink and reading a magazine! heehee!

The Boardwalk is my all time favorite resort! I absolutely love the pool there and my room request is always "close to the pool." I have spent a fair share of my Disney vacation time at the BWI pool, and I have found that the only consistently shady spots are by the children's pool, which is surrounded by trees. However, you probably won't want to be spending your time there. There is sort of an upper tier of chairs that are away from the main circle of chairs that are around the pool, and you can find some shade there as well. However, as far as proximity to the slide goes, I think you would have to try for an umbrella table which is sometimes a little tricky to obtain. Have a great time!!

:worship: princess: ....my kind of girl!! Have fun. You should have no problem finding a suitable royal throne!!!!!

LOL, goofy4tink! I see you "understand" where I am coming from! :earboy2:

Thnaks stitch...I will do my best to find an umbrella table. But if not, I will seek and find shade where ever I can. DH will be in charge of DD. I appreciate the tip. This will be my FIRST TIME at an Epcot resort...so we are pretty psyched about it!
