I was thinking of mailing some stuff to my room because I will not have space to take with me on the plane. As anyone ever done this? Do the hotels mind? I wanted to ship stuff like bottled water, toys, and pre-packaged goodies. Can someone help me? We are goingt o stay at POR in June.

I did the same thing this past May...just call POR directly and ask for the address you need to use to mail a package to a guest...address it with that address and the words For Guest: xxxxxx(your name) Arriving: xxxx(date of arrival) and your reservation #....they will hold it for you without any problems...ask when you check in and they will retrieve the package for you...you can send it a week or so in advance and they do mind holding it even that long...advice....do NOT use any of the addresses that you find on websites...they are generally not correct for guest packages...call POR direct and get the info...have fun!

Don't use the post office, use UPS, FedEx or something along those lines. The post office mail all goes to a central location and then gets delivered from there which can add a significant amount of time on to package delivery. (at least that is what I have been told)

I did not have that problem with USPS...mailed my package 6 days out and it was there when I arrived...marked as delivered 2 days prior...:confused3 Just allow ample time for processing. As a matter of fact, I mailed something home using UPS and when it arrived it looked like an elephant had sat on it!!! They would not process a claim because I did not have my receipts...I will NEVER use UPS again, they do not stand behind their insurance.

I'm sending out our box tomorrow to POR. We arrive on tuesday. The hotels don't mind at all. Just let them know you have a package waiting. shipping bottled water will be very heavy and very expensive. i would recommend NOT shipping bottled water. Have garden grocer deliver it. We are sending down paper plates, bowls, prepackaged tuna with mayo, wraps, snacks, cereal. Lightweight stuff.

I disagree with that post...sorry...I have used USPS and know from experience it IS possible to deliver using USPS and it be there in a timely manner...like I said before, simply call POR direct and ask for the mailing address that needs to be used to mail a guest package...I stayed at POR and received my package just fine when using this method...UPS destroyed the brand new box and contents in the package I sent on my return trip...never again. By the way, I am not trying to call anyone a liar nor say they are "wrong"....just making certain the OP knows that USPS IS indeed an option if you go about taking the proper steps.

I am shipping an 18-pak of beer, 4 bottled waters, and 6 bottles of diet coke. The weight is about 25 pounds, and the UPS Ground charge for that is about $12 from NE Ohio to Orlando (I'm shipping the box tomorrow, we arrive 5/3). As long as you give enough time (about 5 days) UPS ground is the way to go! The post office goes to a PO box first and takes a little longer. We ship one to two heavy boxes every time we go! You can send stuff two weeks in advance if you want to, and you can track your package online.

How does one get the number to POR directly?

How does one get the number to POR directly?

I posted the addresses to the resorts in a link in my post above.

Please note that if you send via the post office, and you track your package online, it will only confirm that it made it to the nearby post office (po box or whatever they call it) -not your resort. I made that mistake in Dec 06. I was happy my package showed "arrived" and when I got to the resort a couple of days after that, it was not there. We did get it on our second day at the resort, so it wasn't too bad, just inconvenient and stressful because I thought the boxes were lost.

Here is a post that belongs to CDSTapisRouge:

Don't ship it through the Post Office... Here is why... The US Post Office does NOT recognize Disney streets, any and all mail being sent to Disney through the US Post Office will go to the PO Box (regardless of how you address it) as the post office does not deliver to Disney directly. From the PO Box it is sorted into sections and then specific locations before it is delivered out to property. This can take quite a bit of time.

UPs, Fed Ex, DHL, any kind of courier service will deliver directly to the hotel. My suggestion would be to get the package ready and send it out about 7 days prior to your arrival (you can send it further out if you like they will hold it). If you give yourself enough time you can ship it ground service which is the cheapest.

As for who to address it to you would want to address it like this:

The name of the person who is the LEAD name on the reservation (may not be you, but it is easier to find that way)
C/O the hotel you are staying at/ Front Desk
The address of the hotel
And put HOLD for guest check in and the date (you can put the res # too if you want, but it is not really needed).

So it would look something like this

John Smith
C/O Disney's Wilderness Lodge Front Desk
Hold for guest arrival 4/02
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Fl 32830

Here is a list of the resort address' (again this can ONLY be used for courier services, US Post office will not deliver to the property directly)

Thanks - I didn't see those phone numbers in there!

Last Sept. I shipped a box just a few days before we arrived, so I shipped it UPS priority (air). It didn't cost much, but that one wasn't very heavy. I had a big gift basket filled with birthday gifts for my MIL in it.

Anyway, just make sure that if you are not sure you have enough time for ground delivery, that you don't put liquids in your box for UPS priority. (that's what I was told at the local UPS store that I shipped the box from).

(I am so excited we'll be there a week from Saturday!)

What address do i ship to then if I want to use USPS?

Same address, it'll just sit for (I don't know how long) at the local post office before they get it to the hotel. Ship nice and early if you are going to use the post office. I'd send it at least a week and a half or even two weeks in advance to be sure your package gets to the hotel before you do. Either way it is fine, UPS or USPS, whatever you are comfortable with!

I did not use a PO box address when I sent my package...it was a physical street address...again, I sent my package 6 days in advance (on a Saturday) and it was there when I arrived...I cannot find the actual address that I used, but I am sure it that one could call POR direct and retrieve it.

Don't.

ANYTHING sent via any division of the US Postal Service goes to a central sorting location and then delivered to the resorts by Disney employees, each package in it's own sweet time. Unfortunately this can extend the delivery time by a week or more (you simply can't guess delivery) and is very much not advised. It's an opportunity for the package to get lost...unfortunately.

With UPS or similar courier service, it's delivered DIRECTLY to the resort... with a tracking number you can confirm it's delivery and know it's there and waiting for you.

The correct addresses for shipping to any resort are on the previous page.

Also - please remember - the convention resorts "charge" to receive a package on behalf of a guest. This will be added to your room charges immediately upon check-in.

Thanks! Others have said that they weren't charged though.... how much is the charge generally?
