I'm pretty sure you can do that. I think the post office will put a notice in the box and the person picking up the mail will have to sign at the desk.

You may have to do digital signature. I just sent certified to a PO box last week, could not get an actual signature back but was able to get digital signature.
Yes we can send any letter or package to a post office box. Like someone said we just put a notice in their box to pick it up at the window.
However, you can send the letter certified with return receipt if you want notification that they got it. You cannot however send it as 'Delivery Confirmation' without making it Priority Mail first. If you do send it as a Priority Mail piece though you can use the Delivery Confirmation or the Signature Confirmation if you do want a signature.
