Hi :goodvibes

I just got my marriage license back yesterday from the Clerk at Brevard and wanted to share my experience as I had to search around a bit to find information, so thought this might be helpful to some of you.

You can download the application form here:

Then I emailed it over to the office, and they e-mailed back our marriage license form and an affidavit.

Both of these we had to sign in front of a Notary Public and have them sign and seal them. (Any UK brides, I found a wonderful Notary in Croydon who was so sweet and helpful, she got married in FL herself which I thought was a great co-incidence. She even showed us her FL license so we know what ours will look like.)

The Notary cost us £75, which is probably less than a cab would have done to the court house from AKL, plus this way we don’t lose any of our time in WDW before the wedding.

Once our forms were all notarized we mailed them off to Brevard with copies of our passports, then when they arrived we got a call from the office and paid the fee by credit card.

And less than a week later it was back with us!

I’ll admit this process was a little nerve-wracking for me as you can only do it within 60 days of the wedding, and with international post, and worrying that the US/UK legal systems would be wanting different things etc.

But it really was an easy and pleasant process, and as we aren’t renting a car I’d be worrying already about finding the courthouse and that something would have gone wrong there etc.

Hope this helps someone.

It helps me! I'm just coming from South Carolina but I'm approaching the 60 day mark myself... thanks for the step-by-step!! :-)

I had a great experience as well! And we were closer to the 40 day mark by the time I got my butt in gear...:scared1:

They were super prompt and I got the paperwork back in Canada in about 2 weeks I think.

Oh WOW

Thank you so much for posting this, Im from Scotland and we get married September 6th so still a wee while to go but something I wasnt looking forward to!

This forum has been a god send for an 'over thinker' like myself!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding

xxxx

I'm so glad to hear this service works as well for UK couples as for US ones! :goodvibes I wasn't sure how it would work with mailing, but it's great to hear that a good chunk of it can be done by phone and email!

If I hadn't been so over-cautious with mailing my form from the UK to the US it would have been 2 weeks faster!

(... I was worried it couldn't be bent etc. So I packaged it up as if it were some kind of gold leaf artowrk or something, and sent it international signed for, which then meant it was treated like parcel post and took over 2 weeks to get to FL....)

They just sent it back folded in a small envelope! So didn't need all the security checks etc. that mine must have had.

Just to throw it out there for USA people who might read this...we went to our bank to have our certificate notarized. It was free.

we also did this and we were really impressed with the speed in which everything went back and forth! we got our license back at the beginning of the week!
