Magnet Paper Issues?

We are cruising next month and it's time to get organized and decorate our door. :yay: I bought Avery Magnet Paper and printed out some graphics, but it's bleeding. They look terrible! I have a HP inkjet. Anyone else have this problem? I may just print on cardstock, laminate and use magnet tape...this looks awful.

We didn't have a bleeding issue, but ours wouldn't go thru the printer - so I bought letter sized labels from Staples, printed on those, then stuck them onto the magnet paper & it worked perfectly! :thumbsup2 Good luck!

I had issues with the magnetic sheets feeding properly also.
I bought some good quality glossy photo paper and printer in photo resolution, then I bought a roll of magnet tape and cut pieces of it and stuck it to the back of the pictures.
It worked great and I never had an issue with them falling off the door at all.
Doing it this way also made it easy to incorporate them into a scrapbook. All I had to do was peel off the little magnet squares

We just printed out plain colour copies, stuck them to magnetic sheets and then covered them with a clear plastic self adhesive sheet. We got both the self-adhesive magnetic sheets and the plastic sheets from our local dollar store.:thumbsup2

I used Staples brand magnetic "paper" and a Lexmark home inkjet printer for my magnets. No worries, very easy feeding and printing, no ink bleeding at all. The crispness of the original image determined the crispness of the final product. I'm amassing images now for our 2012 cruise...I may need a 2nd door for my cabin!

I am actually working on this today, since my cruise is so close (289 days), I printed the photos at Target and then used the adhesive magnetic paper. So far, so good!

I know! At first I thought I would just put up a couple but now I've got tons to print and my paper isn't cooperating. I'll figure something out...it's usually operator error with me! :rolleyes1

Thats what I do, print onto cardstock, laminate and stick adhesive magnets ont he backs, and they still look great!! :thumbsup2

I've always printed mine on plain paper then I laminate the paper and use adhesive backed magnets. I bought an inexpensive laminator at Target (Scotch brand) and various sizes of laminating sheets. For magnets I buy the adhesive backed rolls of magnets (from Michaels). The laminated pieces last a long time and have made it through 3 cruises and counting. It's been handy to have the laminator around the house for other things too! Here's a link to the Scotch website and the laminator that I bought. It works great and you can use the website to search where it is available in your area: http://www.scotchbrand.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/ScotchBrand/Scotch/Products/ProductCatalog/?PC_7_RJH9U52300LM30I87QR3ES18H7_nid=3CFMS8019FgsZXF70WVR8CglRCX2QZFFGGbl I've had it for awhile but I think I paid $25-30 for it.

I'm happy to hear it is working out!

I didn't have an issue with bleeding on my Avery sheets, BUT they kept falling off of our door! They were completely flat with no bends in them but it was like they weren't magnetic. did anyone else have that problem? Is there a fix?

I have a Kodak printer and have printed hundreds of magnets on Avery magnetic sheets and never had an issue with feeding or bleeding. Everything comes out perfectly. My printer is a photo printer though, so maybe that makes a difference. :)

Hmm, probably operator error on my part. I probably need to change my cartridges too. My HP is a photo printer too (not too impressed with it to be honest). I'll keep fooling around with it or try the magnet tape instead.

You have to make sure you get the thinner magnet paper, and then it will feed through most printers without difficulty. Just like paper has different "weight", so does the magnet paper. I only do one sheet at a time, though, because they tend to magnetize to each other and come out in groups!

If you still have time til you sail, you can get the correct magnet paper on ebay.
