Magicians & Jugglers & a Clown Slide, OH MY! We're going to the BWI... A Nov 2010 PTR

Hello!!! :wave2: Remember me? I'm your fellow "obsessed with Disney in November" disser! I finished your TR a while ago and I enjoyed it so much! How neat to read about someone else's trip who was there at the same time that we were! I just happened to stumbled across your PTR, so of'course, I had to join in! I know I'm a little late, but I will go back and catch up. I must say though that reading along will be very hard for me since we will not be going this year. :sad1: I will absolutley me living vicariously through you and your family in November! I really don't even know what to do with myself by not having a fall trip to plan and prepare for. :sad2: Oh well, I am very much looking forward to reading along with you and enjoying all the pictures of the fun you have. And I am super excited to see pictures of the BWI too. I think I would like to stay there one day. Anyway, going back now to catch up! :thumbsup2

Oh never mind. It's just me, passing time while we wait for Ms. Gainfully Employed to get back into town.:teacher:

Ready when you are, Shelly. :lmao:Tomorrow sounds good to me!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Shawna---- hope the meds work for you this time. :goodvibes

Thanks Jo!! I actually had to go get Sudafed this weekend....sinus/allergy ones...been hoping this crud would go away but I was totally exhausted this weekend and not fit to kill...by Sunday the pressure was down in my ears so bad that when I raised my head I thought they would explode!!! So, of course, I had to skip church and drag around all day like a shmoe...I needed it tho'...by yesterday I had much more energy. So,...I have some for the plane ride!! And I thought about you when I got the meds:rotfl:
Hate to hijack Shelly's thread, but I feel confident she wants us to keep things movin' right along while she's skipped out on us!!!!! It's either talk about her trip for her, or get up and start cleaning this house....guess we better talk.... a lot!!!!
I get this sinus/allergy junk every fall and spring, and I always seem to forget how awful it becomes if I ignore it!!! The lethargy that accompanies it is probably the worst....but,...I have my kids on a walking mission again...I always try to have them walk a few miles a day when our trip is about 2 months out...they forget how long it takes just to get from the room to the first ride!!!! We had to skip a few nights because I just couldnt do it..but we did 2 miles last night...I like to do a mile in 15 min,but they were drraaaagggging last nite so it took 20 min for a mile....pretty good I guess, considering they are not marathoners!!
Ok Shelly.....there's a jumpstart for ya!!!!:yay::goodvibes

As long as we are hijacking Shelly's thread  I have suffered terrible this year with allergies since June . Because of my High Bp and other heath conditions and the meds I take daily I just have to suffer, I can use a saline nasal spray Whoo hoo lol. My Dr specifically told me not to take sudafed since it is one of the worse for elevateing Bp, just a word of caution to anyone out there with High Bp

Shelly I think we will be staying put at AKL since there are no 1bdrm Villa's available with the discount at either BC or BW , Oh well looks like no walking to Epcot this year for me

Did you call??? :yay::rotfl:

I didnt call, I talked it over with the hubby and he wants to stay at his fav resort this year so we are sticking with the WL, that is okay because we booked a studio at the the WL so we will have the use of microwave and toaster for easy breakfasts. My husband said that next year we will def book one of the epcot area resorts, I just have to figure out which one we like best. I'm hoping there will be bounceback offers in the room so we can book while we are there. So I now Know that you can walk from the boardwalk into epcot (didnt know this before) but can you walk or take a boat to Hollywood Studios from the boardwalk??

I hope you'll be planning another trip very soon. :wizard: Have you gone back to work yet? I remember you were thinking about it.

You ladies are cracking me up!! :lmao: Well I'm glad you have been able to keep yourselves entertained while I was away! Sorry this PTR has been so boring this far. Tomorrow will be the day. Everyone plan to be here!! :goodvibes I'm taking a day off! :cool1:

Shelly I think we will be staying put at AKL since there are no 1bdrm Villa's available with the discount at either BC or BW , Oh well looks like no walking to Epcot this year for me

That's a bummer! Oh well, there's always next time. It's probably good to stick with your initial resort anyway, otherwise you may be wondering 'what if' the whole time! At least that's what I would do. :rotfl:

I'm sure you'll have a great time at the WL. And you got to keep the DH happy so he will keep taking you back to Disney!! :thumbsup2

Yes, you can walk or boat to Epcot & DHS from the BWI, YC, BC, Swan, and Dolphin!

Hi Shelly!! I just stumbled across this PTR today!! :thumbsup2 Now I have to catch up!

Hey Amy! :welcome: I'm so glad you're here!

All caught up! Your plans sound great! I love the pictures of the boys on different trips. :goodvibes

Your PTR certainly has not been boring, I know I have enjoyed every post and picture so far, but I am happy you do not have to work tomorrow and can not wait to see the next installment.:yay:

Of course I remember you!! :goodvibes So glad you are here! Your TR was so great. Yes, it was very neat to read someone elses report who was there at the same exact time! I hope you'll be planning another trip very soon. :wizard: Have you gone back to work yet? I remember you were thinking about it.

I hope to be planning a trip soon too. In fact, I'd love your opinion on that......... we can go either the end of February, end of October, or early December (all 2011 dates). I just can't decide! Each one has pros and cons. February is the soonest, so of'course that is enticing. But, I have no idea about crowds or weather and there is nothing going on that time of year (no decorations or special events, like Christmas, etc.) I've also already missed the 180 day mark for dining reservations. October sounds good b/c I'd love to see all the fall decorations and do the party, but I'm worried it will be too hot. A December trip would cause DD to miss 5 days of school (she has a winter/fall break in Feb and Oct. so she wouldn't miss as much time then.) But that is really the only drawback to December other than it is a LONG time away! So what would you do???? I'd love some advice.

I am still working from home keeping kids after school and working part time for my aunt who has her own accounting business. I love working from home and, like you, being able to be involved in everything that my DD is doing at school and other activites. I did go for an interview last week for a part time accounting job but the "boss" assured me that my schedule would be totally flexible. I have very mixed feelings on it though. I think about how the extra money would allow for more Disney time :) , but I just don't want anything to interfere with my mommy duties! I know you can totally relate! I am really still holding out for a job at DD's school. I would love to be there with her and be on the same schedule that she is on. I know you love that aspect of working in the same school system as your boys.

Anyway, all your plans sound so wonderful. I think you have sold me on the BWI. I really thought my number one resort would be the BC, but I don't think my DD is quite old enough to really enjoy the pool there. So BWI is sounding like a perfect fit for us too. I know you said CBR was your favorite moderate, but did you think it was too spread out? I've heard people say they love it but it is too big and there is too much walking. Do you agree with that? There is so much walking already at Disney, that I admit, I wouldn't want to do a lot of walking at the resort either. Just curious what you thought.

I'm also wondering why you chose the 40% off the resort instead of free dining? Are you guys doing the dining plan this time?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but we seem to have a lot in common and think very much alike  , so I will trust your opinions! Can't wait to read more about all your plans!

Good morning PTR friends!!

I am so happy to have a day off today! And to be here to talk about my favorite park – DHS!! I just love it there. It was on our second trip when I found my love for DHS (MGM back then). We walked in and I had this huge smile on my face and DH looked at me funny – like why do you have that goofy look on your face? (although he didn't say that! ) And I just looked at him and said – there's something about this park I just love, yep this is my favorite!

I know for most people DHS is probably 3rd or even 4th on their list. It's hard to explain what it is that I love so much about it – just everything I guess! The exciting atmosphere, the shows, the rides, the magic! The one thing I don't care for is their CS meal choices. Have yet to have a good one! But we will talk about Disney food in another post! ::yes::

We will definitely spend at least 2 days at DHS!

Rides/Shows/Attractions we always do at DHS~

Rock N Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Toy Story Mania
Backlot Tour
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

Rides/Shows/Attractions we have never done at DHS~

Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage

I hope I didn't miss anything! We will do everything on the first list of course! Except for Star Tours which is closed for a huge rehab. The boys are disappointed about that, but excited that it will be bigger & better than ever next time! As for the second list, we will definitely do the Great Movie Ride and probably One Man's Dream. The kids have kind of outgrown Playhouse Disney and the Movie Set playground. I forced them to see the Little Mermaid show last year and they actually liked it! So we'll see about that one! And I doubt we will see Fantasmic this time. We usually see it every other trip, so we would be due to see it this year since we didn't last year. But, we would rather spend the time at the Osborne Lights!!! We saw them for the first time last year and they are so fun and amazing. :santa:

I'm so glad you are enjoying it Sheila! :)

Oh my!!!! I missed the paid in full party and the 50 day party!

We'll just call it being fashionably late. :rolleyes1

 :cool1: :yay: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:

You're always welcome to the party Kim - on time or fashionably late!! :rotfl:

:cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

Shelly--I LOVE that picture of the boys outside The Little Mermaid! You said they liked the show...so was that picture before you saw it, when you were forcing them to go in? :rotfl:

Sorry to ask so many questions, but we seem to have a lot in common and think very much alike  , so I will trust your opinions! Can't wait to read more about all your plans!

Well let's see if I can try to answer some of these questions!!

Hmm. . . That's a tough one on the 2011 dates. . . February definitely has the fact that it is the soonest going for it! :rotfl: But I would worry about spring break crowds and paying peak season rates. :scared1: I would probably choose October over December for a few reasons. One - it is sooner! :cool1: And two - I have a few DIS friends who went at the beginning of December and even though it is still considered value season it was very crowded. Plus depending on your dates you could end up there during Pop Warner and the parade taping.

Okay, so that's my not-so-professional opinion on that!

Yes, I felt the same way about the BC/YC pool. It looks amazing, but just not a good fit for us right now. I think the BWI will be a good fit for us. At least I hope so! :wizard: Yes, we love CBR very much! We have never found it too big. You can book a 'preferred room' there are be guaranteed a room right next to everything. But both times we have stayed there we have booked a standard room and had about a 3-5 minute walk to get to everything. No big deal! We also walked from the furthest village out to the main area (just to see what all the complaining about the walking was about) and it took us 7 minutes. :confused3 Your DD would love the pools and slides there!!

We chose the 40% off over free dining because we saved hundreds more that way!! If we were staying at a moderate it probably would have been better to take free dining (my pin was for 20% off values, 30% off mods, 40% off deluxe), but with a deluxe the 40% off the room was a better savings. Believe me, I did my Disney math!! Over and over and over! :rotfl: No, we are not doing the DDP. I couldn't bring myself to pay an adult price for DS11 who will likely order off the kids menu all week. Plus we have been wanting to eat at T-Rex which isn't on the DDP. So, we will not have a TS everyday of the trip, but we still have several. It will be interesting to see how we come out money-wise without the DDP. And then we will know for next time! I just don't see us getting the DDP again anytime soon, especially after DS8 (almost 9) turns 10. :upsidedow

I wish you luck in your job search. I know it's so rough when you want to do everything. It is great being on the boys school schedule. I hope you can get into your DD's school! :wizard:

Yay! You're here today! :cheer2: Is this the end for a while or just 1 day off?

I was going to ask the same question that Pluto Fan did about the pic of the boys at VOTLM. It definitely looks like it was taken right after you said, "We WILL see the Little Mermaid!" :rotfl2: They should know by now to trust your advice! You wouldn't steer them wrong!

You might get the same picture if you tell them you're going to see Beauty and the Beast. ;) We saw it on our first trip, when both the kids were young. I remember that we enjoyed it, but that was so long ago. We didn't do it on our last 2 trips, when the kids were older. If nothing else, it is a chance to sit down for a little while and rest your feet, while being entertained at the same time. :)

Sounds Dangerous, I know we have done once or twice. It was another of those "it was OK, but not a must-do" things. I know, I'm not too much help with Disney planning. :guilty:

I know one thing, though. I would love to go back in November so that I could see the Osborne Lights! I loved the pictures and videos from your last trip!

You are going to love staying at the BWI and being so close to your favorite parks!!

Glad you're back! :goodvibes

All right, I'm here, what did I miss?

You are sooooooo on top of things on your day off! An update and everything!:cool1:

Okay first off-- I've never seen that pic of the boys in front of VOTLM. THAT IS SO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it. They are hysterical and make me giggle.:rotfl:

Love the picture of TOT-- can I steal it for my daily wallpaper change??....I'm sure you don't care.:rolleyes1

Sad that the boys won't be able to go on Star tours. I know they love it.:guilty: ooh- forgot to tell you!! I thought about you yesterday when I got the mail. In it was my Williams-Sonoma catalog and they have Star Wars cookie cutters and pancake molds and aprons and...... oh here, just look---:lmao:
http://www.williams-sonoma.com/search/results.html?words=star+wars

See? I knew you'd love it.:lovestruc I can't remember if you have one close to you or not. I think there might be one in RPM but I can't remember. I've lived in too many areas with too many malls and they all get smooshed together in my brain.

Okay so back to DHS.... want to torture the boys some more? Make them go to Beauty and the Beast.:rotfl2: It's actually very very good- Drew even enjoys it when we go. Of course Belle has to go see her Beast so Drew just has to endure it.

We reallyy like The Great Movie Ride.
Oh and of course TOT ande RNRC, which I rode neither in May. :headache:
I think you need to go to Hollyweird since you love DHS so much. :goodvibes Mann's Chinese theater is, um, interesting.:scared1:

We did Sounds Dangerous in May. They should change the name to Sounds Nasty. I got creeped out. It was pitch black dark and you sat there listening to these headsets that probably had butt germs or some such grossness all over them... in your ears. Yeah- I sat there with them off for most of the time b/c I was sure my ears would fall off from butt germs in the next day or two and then I'd have to get Mickey ears to replace my human ears, and I figured it just wasn't worth it. :rolleyes1
My advice????? Skip it, and keep your ears.

So--- now what? What can we talk about now?
I'm going to rummage thru the refrigerator and get some breakfast.
I'll be back in a jiff.

Looooove the update!:lovestruc

BUTT GERMS????!!!!! :rotfl2:

I've heard it all. :faint:

Jo, you CRACK me up! :lmao: Sorry, I couldn't resist that one.

OK, I think I need to shower now, with the thought of butt germs in my ear. ;)
