I haven't been on this forum much. I saved up for a trip to Disney for this past summer, but life interfered. I wanted to start slow, just a 4 day trip where I take my daughter to MK and perhaps MGM. When school started I thought I was doomed, but then we got the calendar. She has back-to-back teacher workdays in October on a Thursday and Friday giving us a 4-day weekend. :woohoo:

I was going to try to stay on-site, but can only afford a value resort (and have enough spending money) and I heard from so many people here that it is better to have your own rental car. The transportation was the main reason I wanted to stay on site. So, I was looking to go off-site to save money (have more to spend really). I came across a website called magicgetaways.com. They have some of the really popular off-site hotels for like $20 a night if you book using their toll free number. Some have the option of booking online. You pay more, but still really cheap. I was looking at a Holiday Inn for $20 a night if I call and $36 a night if I book online which is still cheap. All-Star Movies (the onsite resort I wanted) is booked for that weekend anyway so I figured I might as well go off-site. It will just be my 5 year-old and me, so I don't need a lot of space.

If anyone has successfully used this site, please let me know. I apologize if there is a thread on it already, but no time to search.

thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
A mom trying to secretly make her daughter's dream come true

Hi acdmom3 :). Welcome to the Dis!

I have looked at the site you are referring to and I think they are wanting to rope you into a timeshare presentation with their low rates. It says on there that the rates are subsized by "their sponsers" so I would be very careful!

If I were you, I would def. stay onsite at a value :). I have done onsite and offsite and while both are nice in their own way, I really think your daughter will get the "full" Disney experience being onsite. You won't really save a whole lot by staying off-site vs. on-site at a value when you factor in a rental car. The big draw for off-site for me is the space. I can get much bigger accom. for what I would pay for a small room with two beds at a value. But since it is just you and your dd, the value room should be just fine :).

I hope you have a wonderful trip :wizard: !

I stayed at the Ramada Celebration Convention Center in July and think it could be wonderful for budget trips. I did a review on the review thread here. It's just outside WDW on 192, easy to navigate to the world, and you should be able to get it for around $30. Check out www.betterbidding.com to find out which hotel it is on Hotwire. Ask to stay in the Orange Blossom building.

Best of luck.
