Magicbands & Parking

We did this with our APs in December. We were staying offsite, so we just scanned our MBs at the parking lot gate for entrance.

Really?? Wow, never knew that! I always show my RFID card, because I thought you had to just like when you get a merchandise discount.

Don't you still have to show ID?

They never asked for ID. I had both my RFID card and my DL with me, but more than half the time they didn't even scan the band, just waived us through when we said AP.

You can indeed just have your magic band scanned and not have to show ID

We normally just show our passholder discount card and ID since a quick show of it is easier than scanning the band. But when we forget the card, we just hand the band to the CM or they scan it while on your wrist. I've found though they much rather prefer a quick show of ID and card rather than band

Why do you have to show ID when scanning the RFID card but not when you scan your band? That doesn't make much sense.

As an AP you either show your yellow AP discount card and photo ID (to verify the name on the discount card matches), or scan your magic band.

The RFID card is a park ticket card which most AP's don't have since you get sent a magic band. So your showing ID with the discount card

I've always shown my RFID card and they ask for my ID. They scan my RFID card, and it seems like they are verifying the name that pops up on their scanner to the name on my ID. I don't see why they wouldn't have to verify that same thing with a band. but hey, I'll try it next time I go.
