Thought I'd start yet another Magicband thread! I searched, and couldn't find an answer. My Disneymoon is coming up fast! My new bride and I will be at Disney Oct 5th - 14th. We are staying offsite the 5th - 13th (only because someone gave us an offsite time share as a gift). We will be moving to the POP on the 13th, also our last park day. We purchased tickets on UT and I have not linked them for fear of causing problems. Will we still be able to use our normal tickets for park entrance and fastpass for the first 7 days? Would the Magicbands work just for park entrance before we check in to the POP? We were already selected for Magicbands for our hotel stay. Thank you for any insight you have!

1- Will we still be able to use our normal tickets for park entrance and fastpass for the first 7 days?

2- Would the Magicbands work just for park entrance before we check in to the POP?

1- Yes. (But, you might need to trade them (no charge) at any ticket booth for new RFID plastic tickets if they are "paper" tickets.)

2- Maybe. You can try them.

I'm currently doing your same scenario, we were offsite the first week, onsite at POP the second. I linked our UT tickets ahead of time and was able to make FP+ selections for our onsite days. I live in Canada so we did not get our hands sent to us, they are waiting for us at check in. We used or paper tickets for the offsite days with no issue. A couple of times they said we should switch them to RFID tickets, but at didn't bother since there was no delay or issue with getting in with the paper ones. We used or magic bands for the first time yesterday and no issues with any of our transactions with the bands.

The only issue I am having is with the app and making changes to my FP+ selections; I was able to make changes from the time I first made selections and all through my offsite days, but as soon as we got on site, I could no longer make changes with the app. The in park kiosk worked fine and concierge could do so, but no luck with the app. Concierge thinks it's either the split stay or the fact that I had off days between park days.

Worth noting that during one of my pre vacation calls that I made to MDE support, I was told that my scenario will only work during test phase, once it goes live your paper tickets will no longer be valid on their own once they are linked to the band. He, at the time, guessed that testing would be through September only, so for an October stay, it might be worth calling to make sure they are leaving the paper and paperless ticks active simultaneously.

You use your park tickets as normal. Your magicband will be used to gain entry to your hotel room, and charging if needed. No link to the park entrance or fastpass as the tickets are not on the magicband.

Did you ask anyone if your magic band could be activated early? I'm wondering because we are doing the same thing in a few weeks (offsite 1st, then moving to a MB test hotel). I was planning on going to guest services and seeing if I could get my band activated early so I could take advantage of FP+ on my off site days

I guess I better call before I link my tickets. I want to make sure it doesn't mess anything up for the first part of my trip by doing so!

Sorry to crash your thread, but it came up in my search for Magic Band w/split stay involving an offsite property.

We have a bit of flexibility in our stay. We have 3 nights at an offsite timeshare and also want to stay 5 nights using our DVC points. I initially thought I would want to do the offsite first (since I don't want to spoil everyone first at DVC then move them to a smaller property), but I'm wondering if there would be an advantage for staying at Disney first in this case with respect to the Magic Bands. We do not have annual passes so I would need to buy us tickets. I'm guessing the MB would not be active until we check in to Disney, but if we check in to Disney the first 5 days of our trip, will we be able to reserve FP+ for the last 3 days of our trip (using the ticket we would link to the MB)?
