Just back from another amazing trip...December 19-24. We were booked at CSR and checked in bright and early Saturday morning. Due to our large family, we require two rooms and requests are sometimes hard to fill. Our request had been for Cabanas upper floor, our room was ready, but neither of our requests were met. Although we were a little disappointed with our room assignments, we were anxious to drop our bags and head to the Magic Kingdom. We walked into our Ranchos room to discover an overwhelming smell of mold. I was two days into a terrible sinus infection and there was no way this was going to help me feel better. The sweet CM that checked us in told us to contact her if there were any problems during our stay, so I walked back up to the main building, and asked to speak to her. She came right out and I explained the dilemma. She told me to wait right there and she would see what she could do. In the meantime she walked to our rooms to investigate the smell herself. She too noticed the odor immediately and apologized for the inconvenience. She explained that the resort was at capacity and that it might take her a while to find us two rooms together. I let her know that was fine and we would be willing to switch resorts if necessary, but that we really needed connecting rooms. I also told her that I understood there could be a difference in the rate of the alternative resort and that we were willing to pay. My family headed to the food court and hung out while we waited for an alternate room. An hour or so later the CM came down and explained that they had checked everywhere on property and the only resort with connecting rooms was the Polynesian, and it would be two studios, was that ok? I asked the difference in rate and she said there wouldn't be any, that Disney was happy to take care of it. Needless to say we were thrilled with the offer, and accepted graciously. I was prepared to go to a value if necessary, and was beyond surprised and grateful for the upgrade. Disney's customer service is never lacking, I'm always truly impressed with which the manner they handle things.
