Magical upgrade...

Just back from another amazing trip...December 19-24. We were booked at CSR and checked in bright and early Saturday morning. Due to our large family, we require two rooms and requests are sometimes hard to fill. Our request had been for Cabanas upper floor, our room was ready, but neither of our requests were met. Although we were a little disappointed with our room assignments, we were anxious to drop our bags and head to the Magic Kingdom. We walked into our Ranchos room to discover an overwhelming smell of mold. I was two days into a terrible sinus infection and there was no way this was going to help me feel better. The sweet CM that checked us in told us to contact her if there were any problems during our stay, so I walked back up to the main building, and asked to speak to her. She came right out and I explained the dilemma. She told me to wait right there and she would see what she could do. In the meantime she walked to our rooms to investigate the smell herself. She too noticed the odor immediately and apologized for the inconvenience. She explained that the resort was at capacity and that it might take her a while to find us two rooms together. I let her know that was fine and we would be willing to switch resorts if necessary, but that we really needed connecting rooms. I also told her that I understood there could be a difference in the rate of the alternative resort and that we were willing to pay. My family headed to the food court and hung out while we waited for an alternate room. An hour or so later the CM came down and explained that they had checked everywhere on property and the only resort with connecting rooms was the Polynesian, and it would be two studios, was that ok? I asked the difference in rate and she said there wouldn't be any, that Disney was happy to take care of it. Needless to say we were thrilled with the offer, and accepted graciously. I was prepared to go to a value if necessary, and was beyond surprised and grateful for the upgrade. Disney's customer service is never lacking, I'm always truly impressed with which the manner they handle things.

We fell in love with the POLY and had a magical time!
 
That is awesome! We are always overwhelmed with how wonderful customer service is at Disney. No matter where we go I always compare to Disney and am always disappointed.
 

That's great! And - I really want to let you know that reading this post, so many times I thought how really helpful YOU as a guest were as well! Sounds like you kept your cool and really were willing to make lemonade from your lemons! I'm sure the CM you worked with appreciated your attitude a lot too!!!
 
You sound like a great humble family and I'm glad disney can give you these accommodations! It's great reading these disney upgrades.
 
I'm smiling so much because of your story. You played it cool, and they treated you right. Was the Poly awesome? The studios look wonderful. It must have been nice having 4 bathrooms, huh?

It was truly awesome, and yes, four showers made getting ready a breeze. Each kiddo got their own bed as well, everyone was well rested. We took more time to enjoy the resort than we had originally planned and it made our whole trip so relaxing. It was great to watch fireworks and the water parade from the beach, the POLY will definitely be a repeat resort.
 
I'm sure the CM you worked with appreciated your attitude a lot too!

It's a ploy. Now that you've tried, and fallen in love with, the Poly you'll want to stay there every time. Voila! More money for WDW :).

Oh don't taint the magic, just kidding. I was thinking the same.

I think in all honesty, it was the only availability they had. It's soooooooo awesome that you took more time to enjoy the resort.

Glad they were able to find connecting rooms at another resort to accommodate your family. The Poly is amazing, glad you had a great stay :goodvibes.
 
We once had room/transportation issues at CSR and I went to talk to the front desk and kindly asked if we could be moved...at our expense...to another resort. They checked and all other resorts were filled, but would we be ok with being upgraded to a suite at CSR...better location, better bus situation (near the first stop vs the last), etc. We took it. As much as we did not enjoy the resort the few times we have stayed there, the customer service there has been very good!
 
We had a magical upgrade for this trip, but due to other issues. We went from Pop to Yacht Club the last week of our trip and LOVED it!
 
Lots of magic happened in Defember I guess. We had a split stay: Dec 12-16 at Contemporary club level & Dec 16-19 at Yacht Club in the club level also. At Contemporary, we were upgraded to a 2'bedroom suite from a king club level room. Checked into the YC & amazingly, we were upgraded again! We had a garden view club level room booked & were upgraded to another 2 bedroom suite!! And not just any suite, but The Captain's Deck Suite, which is the largest of all!!! It was unbelievable, we were shocked & thankful to get 1 upgrade after over 20 years of visits. But to have it happen twice, truely shocking!
