Cast: DD age 9- thrill ride lover
DS age 12- thrill ride avoider
DS age 15 - too cool to admit he loves WDW
DH age 42- along for the ride
Me-Dw age 41- lover of all things Disney!
We had a very early flight which was fairly uneventful. security is still tight-they are still doing random bag checks, and are carefully screening all carry-ons. The woman in front of us had forgotten to remove her manicure set from her cosmetic bag, and was pulled aside to have everything searched-so make sure you haven't packed anything on the forbidden list inadvertantly. We arrived in Orlando right before noon, and were hoping to be in the parks within the hour, but this was not to be! A big thumbs down to National car rental- they kept us waiting in the parking garage along with about 6 other families and a few business travelers for an hour because they had no intermediate size cars. While were breathing in all that healthy car exhaust we weren't given any apologies or explanations. They refused to give anyone waiting a car from the next level-even though they had a lot full of them. The gentleman behind us had to call the 800 number for customer service to get anyone to talk to him! We will never use National again-it took almost 2 hours to pick up our car!!
We finally got on the road to WDW , and within 30 minutes we were checked in at the Contemporary. Our room wasn't ready, but we had our luggage stored so we could go to MK. This was our first stay at the Contemporary, and we absolutely loved it!! The room was nice and large, the kids thought the bathroom was "cool" , and we just loved the convenience of walking to MK or taking the monorail. There is nothing like walking along the pathway and starting to hear the music from the MK! We had a nice lunch at Columbia Harbour House, which was jammed-I guess a lot of people have discovered this place! Rode Haunted Mansion-one of my favorites-this was basically a walk on. Worked our way over to Tomorrowland to do Buzz-the family favorite. I think we may have waited 15 min. for this. 3 of us did Space Mountain (DS #2 refuses to do this , so DH rode Buzz again with him ) with very little wait, then did the other 2 Mountains, POC, and the Jungle Cruise. Even though the park was open till 10:30, the kids were pooped out, so at about 9 we headed back to the Contemporary-took the monorail with almost no wait. Everyone fell asleep almost immediatly......
