Magical Shoes?

Have you tried the Oofos Oolala? I am like you in that I'm constantly trying to find the perfect Disney Shoe, and I used to be a tennis shoe only girl. But for our trip in Nov, I'm considering switching to flip flops only and want to try some options. I've worn Olukai Ohanas before, and they were pretty good. I will bring those, probably my vionics, and want to try the Oofos. But now I'm considering buying these Tevas too...I'll bring a pair of clarks for a tennis shoe option.
I LOVE my oolalas. I prefer to wear running shoes in the parks (nervous about getting stepped on, slipping, running into things, etc.), but anytime I wear flips, it's always my oofos. They are also really great for wearing around in the evening. My feet feel so much better after a long day in the parks.

I always wear some form of skateboard shoe (usually DC Court Grafix or Net) but then I wear sneakers all day every day anyway so it's what my feet like. My wife can get away with wearing just about anything, she's one of the few people I know who can be completely comfortable all day in a pair of Converse All Stars which have zero support or cushioning. I tried them for a half day, and my feet hated me for it!

Do the straps rub your feet raw after wearing all day?
You do have to adjust Chaco's just so to keep them from doing that. It's a fine line, that's for sure. DGD just wore her's for 2 weeks at camp. I sent extra shoes with her but she was determined to get a Chaco tan so she wore them every day and her feet are torn up from them because she wasn't used to them and they hadn't been properly adjusted. I didn't expect her to wear them every day. She wanted a tan line like the big kids had

Also, Chaco's has a new'ish style, z-cloud (I think that's the name) that are way better than the original footbed. No wear near the breakin period needed for them.

I have found that it helps to not wear the same shoe everyday. I rotate between my Tevas, Asics running shoes and Keens. I also bring my LLBean slippers...ahhhh

I have tried soooo many different kinds of shoes at the parks. For me, the most comfortable option (wet or dry) is the classic keds or even generic ones in that style. Toms too, I can wear those all day comfortably.

I don't normally wear tennis shoes, so I think that's why none have ever been ideal for me.

The worst was when I decided that I didn't want to dull down my dapper day outfit with keds or flats so I wore wedges. WORST. IDEA. EVER. I lost my big toenail for 6 months because of that

I alternate between my Brooks Launch Running shoes and Teva Olowahu Flip Flops (the latter dries very quickly after getting wet and I don't slip in them).

Good to know. I have a pair and they are comfy when the straps are just right, but they are sometimes so tough to get my feet into. If my feet swell or anything, they dog between my toes and I have to readjust the straps.

My girlfriend mentioned the other day that she swears by FitFlops and calls them her "Disney Shoes" because they are the only thing she can wear all day without her feet getting sore. I'm personally a Birkenstock person, but it got me wondering - what other brands do people swear by for WDW walking? Do you have a magical shoe you can't visit WDW without?
We generally all bring crocs and sneakers and switch off day to day - the switching REALLY makes a difference.
This year, I bought myself some Keens and have high hopes. They seem awfully comfortable for our Disney training walks :-)

I've given up on the Chaco's that wrap my toes and switched to the ones that go over my instep instead. So much better for me.

I wear Teva Tirra sandals or Puma sneakers. I usually find sneakers very uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. It could just be because I'm not used to wearing that style of shoe, but Puma is the only brand that works for me. :confused3

There are several that work well for me. If the weather is dry (yep, that can be a problem) I like soft soled moccasins. Otherwise, Teva sandals, of the now discontinued *grumble* Crocs tennis shoes. I have a very wide foot, and the added problem of having been bitten by a rattlesnake on my right foot 10 years ago, so it is kind of difficult for me to find closed-toed shoes that fit well. And when I do, I buy several pair, because they always seem to get discontinued shortly after I find them.

I wear the same shoes I wear to the gym. Usually my nikes. Have a few pair to match with outfits.

New Balance walking shoes are always my favorite shoes for Disneyworld.

My sister put off that surgery and suffered horribly for over 2 years trying everything under the sun. She finally broke down and had the surgery last month, and is now kicking herself for not doing it earlier.

She used a knee scooter for a week. One week after surgery she got a boot and could put weight on it. Three weeks later (yesterday) the boot came off and she can even drive now. So she only had one real week of total down time. She only had to take pain pills for 2-3 days. She was so dreading this surgery (and she's been thru some major knee surgeries, etc.). I've heard horror stories about how bad it is. But they've changed a lot of the techniques. My sister had an enormous bone spur that had totally torn up the tendon. The key is to get a surgeon who does this all the time and who keeps up to date on the latest techniques.

Good luck.

Holy cow!!! My podiatrist told me I'd be on crutches for four weeks then a boot for another four. But then, I live in Louisiana, and while there are lots of great things about my state, being on the cutting edge of medical technology is not one of them.

I'm a teacher, so the only option would be to do this over the summer, and I just do not want to give up my vacation time. I keep saying "Next summer...next summer."

My sister had hers done in Arkansas. I actually get my medical care at Ochsner's in New Orleans because they saved my life when I got sepsis. My sister expected to be on crutches for a month, and in the boot for quite a while too. So maybe they all just give a worst case scenario. But a friend's husband had it about a decade ago, and he was in a cast for 3 months - and had horrible pain.

That's encouraging. Maybe I'll get a second opinion...I just went to the podiatrist at the clinic where DS's orthopedist is for convenience's sake.

A friend of mine is an NP at Ochsner's! Maybe y'all crossed paths! :)

Fit Flops are my magic shoes too. I got my first pair several years ago at Disney, with Mickey heads on them. I've long since worn those out-I wish they'd make those again. I can walk all day in my Fit Flops without hurting. I also like my sketcher Go-Walks and Teva Mush.

I love the rasta reggae sandals from skechers. I've worn them on two Disney trips, and getting ready to wear them on my third. They are rubber, and water proof. Super comfy & they come in a large variety of patterns and colors.

My Croc sandals. Not only are they very comfortable they are waterproof. As in, I've walked thru giant puddles and the water slides right off. But I still do switch shoes either during the day or every other day. My feet are never happy in the same shoe day after day.
