Magical Oct 4, 2014 Southern Caribbean

Looks like a lot of couples without kids so far. I laugh every time I see a review that says DCL is not for couples! Disney does such a good job managing kids that I consider it a non-factor. Besides, I'd rather deal with kids having a good time than smokes, drunks and a casino!

I am so excited about this itinerary that I forgot to mention we have a 7 day eastern on the Fantasy booked for 1-14. Yeah, that same old blase' regular eastern. :hyper: The southern will be our 10th DCL, so we are almost Platinum! My husband thinks this goal is crazy, but when I say free Palo's, he is all in!

I also have a cruise booked for this year at Christmas time. It is an eastern too. I am excited for it, but I cant wait for this cruise and the ports. I do wish we had atleast one more sea day though. I do love my sea days:goodvibes

We're right there with you. We brought our kids on our first 5 cruises, but we're leaving them at home for cruises 6 and 7 (we're also on the San Juan Eastern 4/20/13). They're 14 and 17 now. Besides, we can't pull them out of school for the Oct 2014 cruise. But they still get their annual DVC vacations.

We actually weren't going to book another cruise, but when they announced the Southern itinerary and the prices were lower than we expected, we couldn't resist.

Of course now we have to factor in the costs of airfare (we usually just drive to PC), hotel for one night, etc... At least it's a short flight for us.

We are bringing our kids :-) missing school isn't an issue for us here (my DD will be 9) and my soon is about to start online school so that can be easily managed wherever we are! Would be nice to sail without the kiddos though, we went to Hawaii alone last year and had an amazing time. I think I'd miss them on the cruise though:-)

I think the Oct. 11th cruise will have more kids then this cruise only because that cruise falls on Columbus Day. I am so excited for this cruise. I already told DH this cruise isn't about relaxing it's about exploring all the ports ! I already set up my binder let the fun and research begin !!:yay:

For those that have been to the ports before I am interested in your thoughts.:coffee:

I'm like you .. I have a Med cruise this June, and a Fantasy cruise in May 2014. That will make this cruise my 10th too!
The Oct 11th cruise will probably have more Canadians as well, as the 11th is our Thanksgiving!

Just called to cancel my other 3 cruises (we had connecting rooms on a back to back) since we traded in that cruise for this one, obv keeping one cabin and modifying it to keep our onboard credit. I rolled over all my deposits and upgraded on this cruise!

We are now in the.....Walt Disney suite!!!!

Wow the royal congrats!

We are booked on this one as well in a 7A! :thumbsup2 The only thing I worry about is airfare, but as long as that is reasonable we will be going!

We are also just two adults since we don't have kids.

Part of what swayed us was the airfare. Actually consistently cheaper from SEA to San Juan then to Orlando. So we will save money there. We are only paying about 2k more for the royal suite then connecting portholes on the Dream for 7 nights. We should save about 1k in airfare so the difference is only about 1k total. Seemed worth it!!

Yes, it seems like two staterooms quickly gets SPENDY! We'll be flying from portland - I tried looking at this October's rates - they are around $450 from PDX which isn't terrible; that's about what it is to Orlando for us.

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Have a great cruise!

We are back in our sideways inside for this one. :goodvibes We are doing our first verandah on our upcoming PC in May. The rates dropped so much that we were able to cancel, pay the penalty, move from inside to verandah and still get about $700 back. :hyper:

Prices from Indy to Mco were horrible this past October. Schools here are taking up to two weeks for fall break, forcing up prices. Makes Puerto Rico look affordable.

So how are *you* going to top this next time, huh? You going to book the Captain's cabin? The bridge perhaps? Or maybe just charter the whole ship?? :rotfl2:

Seriously, sounds like you're going to have an absolute blast!!
