Congratulations and Howdy from Houston!

We are booked in two cat 10 connecting rooms. There are 5 of us: me, DH, DD15 (will be 17! :scared1:) DS10, and DS4. We cannot wait! We aren't celebrating anything special except our very first cruise. :goodvibes

We are trying to get some friends to join us as well, but I don't have high hopes that will happen. But you never know! :)

We are so thrilled DCL decided to give Galveston a try. We are hoping they make it a permanent offering in the future.

We have been on DCL twice before. Once in 2002 and once in 2007. We are in two rooms - deck 8 verandah and deck 7 inside. We are myself (35), DH (36), DD (15), DD (13), DS (9), and DS (7).

Our verandah room technically sleeps five, but I am hoping to double the little boys up on the sofa. They are little peanuts and love to sleep together for a special treat! The room steward for our inside will have an easy week!

We are super excited that DCL is coming to Galveston. It is only about a 45 minute drive for us! It will be great to spend New Year's on the Magic.

Hi, we just signed up for this cruise on the Aug. 23rd Alaskan cruise. This will be our 11th cruuise, as we also have a cruise planned this year on the Dream on April 5th. We have never cruised over New Year's before and are looking forward to it! I am looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next year and a half. Criuising on this cruise is me (Vicki), DH Marty, DD Adriane 14, DS Zach 10, DD Stephanie 8, DS Isaac 5 and DS Vincent 2.

Greetings from the Houston area! We booked this cruise when it first came out. Hoping it coincides with the winter break but our school schedule does not come out till Spring 2012. We are in the Lamar ISD. We are Taina (DW), Ben (DH), Kaitlyn, (DD 17) and Ben III (DS 15). Suprised there are so few posters! And rates have not changed much since we booked on opening day. This will be my 7th cruise on the Magic (6th for the kids, 4th for DH).
Looking forward to hear from others! :goodvibes

Hi there :wave2:

Welcome. I too am surprised that there are not too many posters for this thread either. :confused3 You won't have to travel too far to go on this cruise :thumbsup2 We are from Wisconsin and it will be very cold during this time of year, so it will be nice to be enjoying some warmer weather on the cruise ship. Hopefully this cruise works out for you on your school break.

Its been ten years since we were on the Magic for the New Years Cruise. It was a great evening and what others have been saying is what I remember. It was a time when Disney had live bands playing for sail away parties, during the afternoon at pool side and for special events including a top side New Years eve party with dancing. There was plenty of champaign, a huge desert mid night spread, horns, NYE necklaces. The NYE dinner was special and everyone was dressed formal. In the early days, most men wore Tux's but that has significantly changed today. Tux's and long gowns or dress up outfits for the women certainly make it a memorable evening...

We are set for the December 30th - 8 night on the Magic. It will probably be our last time on the Magic until it has the major overhaul in 2012 or 2013... this will be out 7th time on the Magic.. its the perfect sized cruise ship but its time for a re-do and upgrade... I love the size of the adult pool and so sorry the Dream has failed with their small Adult pool. I hope the Fantasy has one large enough to do laps as is the case with the Magic. We are on the Fantasy next late August.

Welcome aboard and Happy New Year....

p.s. Would anyone like to play F.E.?

Well, we got bumped from a Christmas 2012 cruise on the Wonder out of LA. They gave us about a day and a half to make a decision on a new cruise in order to get some shipboard credit. So we are now on this New Year 2012 cruise. We lost a day, have to pay airfare for 4 and are going to port of calls we have already been to. Not how you want to start a cruise, but I know I will enjoy it once it gets here.
It is my husband and I and our dd17 and ds15 (ages at sailing). Looking forward to seeing who else will be joining us.

Hi and welcome:wave2:
Sorry that you got bumped from your cruise. I see that the Wonder will be sailing out of Miami in the winter now. I hope that this cruise will be a fun one. It will be fun to cruise over New Years. I hope that more will join this thread, as it has not been very active.

Hi everyone,

New to the forum. Actually, new to Disney all together as I've never been to Disneyworld/Disneyland. My wife has been to Disneyworld as a kid, but obviously that has been awhile. When we found that Disney was sailing out of Galveston, we felt the urge to capitalize on the opportunity. Like many others, we booked the New Year's Eve cruise. We're looking forward to it and counting down the days until that time.

In the past few years (with having small children), our new year's celebration has molded into staying in and watching the countdown on tv. In fact, this past New Year's Eve my wife and I spent the evening watching Dick Clark and bored to death. Because of that, we made a vow that we'd try to celebrate 2012 differently if possible. Since my wife and I do not drink and are not the party-going type, we wanted to find something that would be fun for us but also conducive for our young children, hence the booking of this cruise.

At the time of the cruise, our children will be 7 and 3 1/2. Since this trip is merely days after Christmas, we have opted to surprise them with this cruise as a Christmas gift. It's funny...Christmas is only one month removed and yet I finding myself counting down each day in anticipation for Christmas 2012. I have to try to slow down and enjoy the year first.

Hi Everybody! We are very excited to be booked on the NYE cruise out of Galveston! We are first-time cruisers from Austin. We are hubby, me,
DD (19) and DS (15). We're on deck 7--Can't wait!!

We are also booked on Disney's Magic for New Year's Eve 2012. It's me, husband, 18 and 11 year old daughters. We're looking forward to it. We did the 25th anniversary American Girl cruise on Celebrity last year. Everyone told us to go on a Disney cruise. Since it's convenient for us out of Galveston, we are giving it a try!! See you on board!!:)

Looking forward to meeting everyone!! I'll be sailing with my mom and 2 sons, ages 12 and 9 (mom won't let me list her age:). Mom's a Disney veteran and I'm catching up, but this will be our 1st cruise. So very excited!!:cool1:
