Magical New Year's Cruise from Galveston 12/29/2012

It's 70 here near Galveston right now. I think the forecast is 68 - 74 right through Christmas Day. I'll try to remember to keep you all posted as to the weather for Friday and Saturday in Galveston. Should be normal Texas Christmas weather - hot and humid!

Just FYI, I work in the international transportation industry and I received confirmation that the strike won't start until 12/30 and passenger vessels will not be affected.

YAY!

We are in single digits!!!! 9 more days! CAN'T WAIT!

I am not sure I would book a cruise at the Holidays again! There is so much to do besides the cruise! Between work being busy and trying to get xmas shopping done and hosting family for dinners I haven't even started with the cruise stuff yet! I plan on laundry and packing after work on Wed. and my family will fly out at 2pm on Thursday after getting the dog boarded and taking care of the bunny and cat arrangements!!! I still need to find my info on what excursions I booked and what hotels before and after the cruise!!! I hope the rest of you are more on top of things than I am!!! Merry Christmas!

I did get a chance to go to San Francisco with my daughter yesterday to see the play Book of Mormon, which with wonderful and then meet the rest of the family for dinner at the cheesecake factory overlooking the huge Christmas tree and ice skating rink in Union Plaza, but still nothing more done toward the cruise!!!

Help!! I have been running around packing separate "dinner" outfits for all 4 of us for each night (nothing too fancy--just "not jeans" pants and shirts with collars for the DH/DS and dress pants/blouses for me and DD) and on top of shorts/t-shirts, swim suits, and everything else---it's a lot of stuff! I am going to feel ridiculous (and am going to get serious grief from DH and DS) if "everyone" (ie a reasonable fraction) of the folks in the dining rooms (late seating) are in jeans and t-shirts. We are not fancy folks. We would be happy in jeans and t-shirts. I just don't want to offend or look out of place. What are you all doing? Thanks!!! We are driving to Galveston so don't have the usual luggage limitations so I don't know how to act !

we got in to Galveston late last night. Staying at the Holiday in right on the beach. Very overcast, lots of waves. Sure hope it warms up and clears up for our excursions!!! Not sure what to do today in this weather!

Hope everyone had a good time despite our weather! My 6yo told me he had a great time and my 3yo gave a mickey high-four to the last crew member we saw.

We walked around the ship alot and saw everyone's FE -- they were amazing!

Can't believe we're back already! We had an awesome time! I want to thank everyone who participated in the FE gift exchange. It was a huge success! We received some fun, useful, and interesting things! Some of you spent lots of time, energy, and talent on your gifts; you are far more crafty than I am!
