Was wondering if anyone knows where these work at
Heres what I have so far:

At Epcot:
Right below spaceship earth
Right outside Test Track
Inside test track they glow red during the heat testing, glow blue inside the cold chamber and glow yellow inside the corrosion chamber.

At MK
On Peter Pan the white light comes on and stays on when you are flying over the city like you are a star

At MGM
on the GRMR it goes crazy during the Mickey Fantasia scene

I remember when I origianlly bought them. I bought them because they looked neat when you pressed it. When I went into Epcot I remember a cm telling me that those pins are really cool they are very magical things. I was like yea you press it and the light comes on. She just smiled at me giving me that "wait you fill find out" look. When I came upon Spaceship Earth I then realized the magic it had when it started doing all sorts of flashing sequences all by itself. I hadnt touched it. I then found all the other neat things it did! It even came on during parades!

I bought these 2 particular pins at the Disney store at the Hilton by DTD but I also have seen them for sale at the pin area behind spaceship earth. I think they were about 14.00 I think.

Are these pins still in effect? We bought some in 2002, if I replaced the batteries would they still work?

I had bought mine in 2002 too and used them last year. I replaced the batteries. Each pin takes two CR2032 batteries.

I bought four of these pins on Ebay to use during our trip to WDW in February. I believe they cost $15.00 at the parks. I paid between $6.00 and $8.00 for each of my pins (including shipping costs). I plan to put them in my family's Christmas stockings. The pins say they interact with each other and play games. I am interested to see how they work (especially at the parks)!

Thanks everyone for the info. I will have to get my 2 girls some.

they used to (and maybe still do) go nuts during the fireworks scene at the end of the boat ride in Mexico at Epcot.

There are two types of these pins. The original ones, fromthe 2001 100 years of magic, are "always on" and light up when touched or during "magical moments" (actually the name of the pins). But the batteries run out faster since they are always in "receiving" mode.

The other type have two modes - park mode and game mode. If you put it in park mode, it will respond to signals sent out all over the parks. If you put it in game mode, you can play games - 4 of them - even with other folks with the pins. Put these ones in game mode when not in the parks to save the batteries.

I have both types and wore them on my trip in the middle of November (a few weeks ago) and they do still respond to signals in the park.

I did not see them for sale anywhere. I was looking for them to see if there were any new styles out. They were nowhere to be found and no CMs had seen them either. When originally purchased, they were $15.

My favorite "magical moment" is at the end of HM when it flashes in a heartbeat rhythm.

This is my *favorite* thing with the pins... my aunt and I joke that we have yet to see what actually goes on in that last room of the ride, because we are always so entranced by what our pins are doing. LOL

The batteries can be found at Radio Shack -- they're $3-something apiece, and the pin takes two of them. I just put new ones in mine, and have a couple spares to bring with us in February.

how long would these pins last with the original set of batteries? I'll be in the disney area for 4 days, should I bring spares?

Also, do the pins work at downtown disney and at restaurants (at the resorts)? Or just in the theme parks?

At the end of the Haunted Mansion ride the pins light up in red and flash like a heartbeat.

The pins also go "spaz" at the end of Fantasmic. Dittoes, IIRC, after Illuminations.

I don't know how many of these are still active because we haven't worn our pins in a while.

I just bought 2 of these pins on Ebay. I paid $4.50 for 1 and $5.00 for another and this includes shipping! The $15 price tag was still on the pacakge. Just do a search for magical moment(s). I am going to bring them with us this weekend!

The Disney Outlet at the Dolphin Mall (in Miami) had a barrel of them marked down to $0.99, a couple of months ago. I grabbed about 10 of them.

We bought ours back in 2001 I believe and we did pay the whole $15 for them. I think they've been worth it because we've worn them everytime since then.

I worn mine on our trip in Nov and it still worked everywhere it was supposed to. I even had a CM remark how glad he was to see me wearing it because he hadn't seen one in so long and really liked them.

They are kind of heavy though so the kids didn't like wearing them on their clothes. When we go in Jan it might be easier because we'll have heavier clothing on and they won't pull so much.

If you're starting with brand new batteries, it should work for the whole 4 days.

I started a 7 day trip with brand new batteries and it didn't give out until the last day. I didn't even put it in game mode every night to save them because I would forget.
