Magical info?

My DS age 7 is recoverying from surgery and we will be in Disney in two weeks to get away from things and celebrate his recovery. He will not be able to ride any big rides at all, but he isn't a big thrill rider anyway. I want to make it a magical trip. We have PS at Chef Mickeys and Whispering Canyon both for dinner. I know Disney does some special things for kids that have been sick. What are some things I can do to help make this an extra special trip? (We are staying at POFQ) Suggestions please?

Sounds like a great trip for your son! So glad he's doing well and that you can get away for two whole weeks! That alone, will truly be magical!!!

I know Dreams Unlimited will put packages together for you but i've never used them so i'm not sure of the prices etc.

However, i would tell EVERY CM you talk to, before you go and while you are there, including and especially at POFQ. Call them directly now and just ask what they can do.....both free and for a price. I'm sure this has been done before and they likely have many ideas and will be very eager to help you celebrate your son's recovery.

As many others, we've been at WDW for our dd's b-day and also Disneyland for mine, and they've gone waaaay out of their way doing little things to help us celebrate so i'm sure they'd love to help you celebrate your joy! When you call back to request specifics at your resort, be sure you tell them and they will make note of it. If you don't get a good response from the first CM, then wait awhile and call back. As in any business, much depends on the person you're dealing with.

Also, you might consider sending things ahead, or arriving before your son enters the room, and have some special treats and toys there for him. Thats part of what DU would do too i think, so you might be able to do it yourself in other locations also...??... i don't know, but it's worth a try.

As I have posted many times before, Don't arrange to have something in your room before arrival. Until you are actually checked in your room could be assigned to someone else. You don't want someone else enjoying your surprise.

I would mention it to everyone that you talk with. If you go not expecting any magic then it truly will be Magic if it occurs. If you want something special for your son please arrange and pay for something.

Many many people are celebrating all types of milestones, special events. They can't do it for everyone but it does happen.

Thats excellent advice! I'm new here so i hadn't heard or thought of that.

What you still could do though disgoer.....YOU could sneak ahead of virtually everywhere your son will be! At age 7, that will be much easier to do than when they're teens! And YOU yourself can go to the room a few minutes before your DH and DS do, and place treats there. Same thing with meals or attractions....if you're there first, always staying WITH the treats, and your DH and DS come a few minutes laters, he will be thrilled.

Thank goodness for big back-packs!
