Magical Gatherings...??

I think I have seen this info before but could not find it through the search.

We have a group of 12 for December, June 9th I can make the Dining reservations.

I looked at the Grand gathering special products, and I don't think we will do any of them (the fireworks cruise, safari, etc) (OR are these things that are a must do?? we had planned the Christmas party but don't want the cost of a lot of things to get outta hand)

Other than those options is there any reason to get a Grand Gatherings number??? and how to do you get a number? through MS???

I am in a similiar situation to you. We have 9 people going and don't think we will be doing any of the special events but I did go ahead and get the number. I got our number through Member Services. They took down all my information and then called me back about a week later with the number. Even though we aren't doing any of the "specials" I am hoping it helps us get our rooms close together and at one table (rather than split up) for our dining reservations

Thanks, I didnt even think of the dining being together, I guess they have to split up large groups into 2 tables??
We will be at 2 resorts so the rooms being close does not really effect us but I can see how that would be important.

I'll call MS and get a number.

Can you still make your own dining reservations with the number???

That firework voyage with Captain hook looks cool, has anyone done that??

It was a few years ago, but we did the fireworks with Cpt. Hook. It was the best part of the trip for us because he picked our DS (who is shy but hammed it up admirably) to sing the Pirates song (you know - Yo Ho Yo Ho ...) and he won a sword for doing it. The ONLY sword given out on the trip - other kids won things but NOT a sword. SO - he of course thought he was COOL!! (He was also about 9). I made sure all the kids in our group won a prize (the others on the boat probably thought I was crazy with all my disney knowledge!!)

My family went to the Illuminations GG last month. I wasn't too impressed. The food was just ok and the entertainment was corny and a bit boring. Some members of my family enjoyed it, though. The place to view fireworks was nice, but there were no seats. Its hard to drink coffee and eat a plate of goodies.

I called MS and they took our information and said they would e-mail me the GG number, she did not know how long it would take. Hope it comes in before june 9th when we can make ADRS
