I JUST BOOKED OUR PACKAGE 2 DAYS AGO AND WE LEAVE NEXT THURSDAY. AFTER READING ABOUT THE "MAGICAL EXPRESS" I'M A LITTLE CONCERNED. WONDER WHY WDWINFO.COM SAYS "We HIGHLY recommend booking this service a minimum of 6 weeks in advance!"

Because you need to have about 2 weeks in order to get those yellow tags. Don't panic though!!! I just booked my DME for my Nov 30 arrival yesterday. And when we went to WDW in August, I booked ME 6 days before we left!! So, obviously you won't get those luggage tags. But, you can do one of two things (well, three actually)....1. make your own tags that have your resort name, your last name, arrival date on them and put one on each bag. I made some out of yellow construction paper and then laminated them. You would have to let the DME know you had done this so they could keep their eyes open for your bags. 2. You could go to baggage claim yourself and grab your own bags (don't put any yellow tags on them though!!) Then take them to the DME check-in desk and you can put them under the bus with you. The third option is what we did...carry-on bags. We were traveling for a very short stay (4 nights) so didn't need a lot. Dd and I each had a carry-on bag so didn't need the tags.
Have a great trip and don't worry. When you get to the DME check-in desk, they will give you all the stuff you will need. It worked out quite nicely for us when we made our last minute trip.

Also, when you checkin at the ME desk, all you have to do is give them your ariline baggage claim ticket and they will get your bag for you.
My gf did that on Thur b/c she forgot to put the ME tag on her bag.

My daughter just today booked ME for her family for her 12/1 arrival (DH & I have rental car) How many yellow tags to they send - per person? And if they don't send enough tags - there are 7 of them and Southwest allows 3 bags per person (although they won't have 21 bags! :scared1: ) - they just grab the extra bags from the carousel and take on the bus with them - correct?

They send 2 per person. You can call and have more sent if you want and yes, all you would have to do is go and get the "extra" bags if you didn't tag them and bring them to the bus with it. It is very easy and a lot of people get their own bags. HTH :flower:

They send 2 yellow, bar coded, tags per person BUT they only put tags for 4 guests in one envelope. You'll get 2 envelopes maybe a day apart.

Some people are confusing the souvenir luggage tags, one per person, with the yellow DME tags.

BTW you can call and ask for extra tags. Some airlines like SW let you check 3 bags and a few guests may elect to pay for excess baggage. That said I'm not sure why any guest would need 3 bags.
