Hello,

Does anyone have an opinion on using the Magical Express???? Do you have to wait a long time for your bags or do they arrive on the Mears with you??

Thanks for any help,

One of my daughter's friends and her family just returned not too long ago. They stayed at the Beach Club and took Magical Express. From what her mother told me they got to the resort around 11 am and their room was ready. They went to the room and called family to let them know they arrived safely then headed out to Epcot around 11:45. My friend realized she forgot to bring medication she would need at dinner so she walked back to the room around 1:30 and the bags were there. So they had them within 2 1/2 hours of checking in but she doesn't know if they got there at 11:50 or at 1:25.

Used DME last month. We had our tags before we left. We arrived at MCO at about 11:50 a.m. We found the DME desk, checked in with them and were on the bus at 12:15. There were some people that had their luggage with them. That went under the bus. Ours was not with us. It went on a different vehicle to the resort. We stopped at 2 other resorts before our stop. We were checking in at BC at about 1:05. Sitting at the pool at 1:30. We got into our room at 2:30 and our bags were delivered at 3ish.
I'll be using it again next week but we will have only carry-on luggage this time, so it will go on the bus with us.

My advice if you use DME and they transport your luggage....pack your carry-on with anything you may need for the next 4 or 5 hours. We packed our bathing suits, meds, clean 'unmentionables', suntan lotion. That way we could sit by the pool and relax.

We didn't have no problem using DME and we already used it twice already. If you want to arrive to your resort with your bags, don't tag your bags. Just pick them up yourself from the baggage claim.

It is a Disney bus, but the drivers are from Mears. The driver will stow your bags away and will unload them when you get get to your resort.

Or if you don't mind waiting for your bags to get to your resort (it can take some hours before you see your bags), then tag your bags before departing from your home airport.

The day before departure from your resort, you will recieve a letter and will let you know what time you should be at the DME bus stop. You should have the voucher and your room key with you when you board.

We are heading back to Disney next week and we are using DME again. It's FREE!!

I used DME on its 4th day of operation, and I thought it was great. It was 53 minutes from the time I first got into the line at the DME counter until I was dropped off at my resort.

One of the things that's MAGICAL about Disney's Magical Express is that your bags "magically" appear in your room. It usually takes about 3 - 4 hours after your flight arrives for your bags to magically appear in your room. Some people have chosen to wait at baggage claim for their own bags and take them on the bus, which I think is foolish because you're wasting a lot of time waiting at baggage claim when you can totally skip it with DME.

I didn't care about the delay in getting my luggage because I always pack my carry-on prepared for the first 24 hours, anyway. No matter where I fly I always do this, just in case the airline delays or loses my luggage. If you pack a carry-on that way, who cares how long it takes your suitcases to arrive?! When my bags arrived in my room, I was in CBR's Trinidad North pool with my kids enjoying the start of my vacation. For each person I packed a bathing suit, a change of clothes, PJs, toiletries, and medications. I really didn't care if my clothes for Days 2 through 8 arrived with me or arrived 12 hours after me, wouldn't have affected me one bit.

When you refer to the DME bus as "the Mears," you're close but no cigar. The buses are operated by Mears, but they are brand new and very plush, and Disney has overall responsibility for the whole affair so from what I hear it's run much better than the regular Mears system.

Wow this sounds great! I had heard about it but didn't think it would work as good as it sounded. 2 things less 4 me 2 carry to the hotel! Awesome!!

my husband and 2 kids are heading down in 2 weeks and we are renting a car. myself and my younger son were going to take ME while my husband and older son pick up the rental. WE dont plan on picking up the luggage but i didnt know if my husbands and older sons luggage would be able to be placed on the bus if they dont take ME?

You'll get two tags per person in your ME package. Just make sure that you put yours and your younger son's tags on all the bags. That should work fine regardless of whether DH and older son go to get a car.

We used ME last week and I have nothing but good things to say about it. It worked perfectly from start to finish. Our plane landed at 12:36 and we were in line to check in at CSR at about 1:50 -- even after doing a drop off at POP first.

Thank you all for the good advise!!! I think we will do it. :cool1:
Sorry I posted on the wrong board :confused3 I did not realize we had a transportation one!!!!

YES WE GOT THE TAGS. SOUNDS GOOD. I DIDNT EVEN THINK OF THAT. I may take my older son b/c he is in a handicapped stroller and i wasnt sure if i needed him with me when i check in b/c we requested handicapped bench for the shower. Will the handicapped stroller be a problem loading into the bottom of the bus? it folds up.
