I think that I know the answer but I will ask anyway. We are going to the VWL and some of the group plan on using the M.E. but after 6 nights staying at the VWL and AKL we are staying the 7'th night at the Dolphin because we can not get a room. Can we go to a Disney hotel and catch the Magical Express? Thanks!!

I should have stated that we are staying at the Dolphin because we could not get a room at DVC for the seventh night

Nope, DME is tied to your resort reservation. You can't access DME if staying at S/D. Did you think about staying at a value resort for that last night? That way you could use DME and probably pay a lot less for that 7th night.

You need a ME boarding voucher and since you are staying at the Dolphin, you won't have one.

ME does keep track of your resort reservation. We had a member of our party joining us midway through our stay. They were scheduled for ME. The resort reservation incorrectly showed them joining us a day later. ME contacted us and told us that they could not use ME because they didn't have a confirmed reservation.
