Wasnt sure where best to post this question, figured I would start here. I am curious about how ME handles making sure they have everyone's luggage on the bus before they take off. Do they tell you how many pieces they picked up for you or do you have to just trust that they get it all??

The luggage is trucked to the resort seperately. It can take several hours before you are reunited w/your luggage again, so bring anything necessary (like swim stuff or pjs in your carryon).

I think when you check in at ME they ask how many pieces and may enter your baggage claim #'s (can't remember). We have always had excellent luck w/ME and I am so glad we don't have to struggle through the airport w/kids, strollers and luggage!

A great tip I picked up here is to pack a little bit of everyone's stuff in your suitcases, that way if one goes missing, everyone is still all set. However, I think they will help you track down and deliver missing pieces, but it will never be clear if the case was missing from the airline or mishandled at ME.

If you are very concerned about it, don't put the ME tags on your luggage and retrieve them from baggage and just bring them to the buses yourself.

You will check in at the DME counter and they will check your DME cards that are mailed to you with your Yellow Resort luggage tags. Somehow they have access to your luggage tag numbers. (must be Magic )
Your luggage will be gathered with all the other luggage going to that resort and delivered by truck in wire crates. Then the luggage will be identified and delivered to your room.
They SAY you'll have your luggage within 3 hrs of checking in. Our first bag arrived about 4 hrs after we checked in and the final bag was delivered closer to 6 hrs after check in. We were beginning to worry but we got all our bags.
After ONE of your party checks you in to the DME counter, you will be instructed in which number line to wait to get on the bus to your resort. To me it felt like cattle being led to slaughter...but it really was quite efficient.

As a side note...dd had on a shirt that clearly said, "Swoosh Basketball". As she was boarding our DME bus, a CM said, "you play ball?" She shyly said, "ya". He said, "Cool! Fast or slow pitch?"
DD didn't know what to say.

great tips thanks, I did try to mix up the clothes a bit in all the luggage pieces. But praying there won't be an issue. I love the idea of not having to handle it...as you had said with kids in tow, who wants to struggle with all that ! thanks for filling me in on the process.

Just be ready to go out before your bags get in. We typically get there and go straight to the parks, because the bags usually don't come for a few hours.
