Can we send our luggage by magical express and use a rental car? Same for the return to MCO?

OR if we use ME for family and luggage, what is easiest way to get a rental car once at our DVC resort? We have used a town car service in the past.

I'm thinking we would want a rental car for the entire time.

So what's the easiest way to get a rental car once you have arrived at a DVC resort?

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can send your luggage on ME without your being present. You can, however, check your luggage for your flight home at your resort the morning of your departure, and you will not see it until you return to your home airport. GREAT feature, IMO. (You then return the rental car to the airport).

I usually rent a car at the airport (National Emeral Aisle, so I don't have to get in line anywhere). There are places to rent on property also. Dolphin, Car Care Center by Magic Kingdom and a couple at the DTD hotels. Someone has said that if you rent from the Car Care Center, they will come pick you up. Maybe someone will have more info on this. Enjoy your trip!

For the trip from MCO -> WDW, ME is not supposed to be a luggage only service. They are supposed to take the bags of people ridding the bus. But you can always have one person rent the car at MCO and another ride the bus. Unofficially, several knowledgeable posters have pointed out that if you put the yellow ME stickers on your bag, Disney really has no choice. They will pick up your bags and take them to your resort even if you don't take the bus. What else are they going to do with them? Although I trust and respect the posters who say you don't need to ride the bus, I personally wouldn't take the chance.

For the trip home, if your airline is a "participating airline" you can check your bags and get your boarding passes no matter what. That service is completely independent of the bus trip to MCO. If your airline isn't a participating airline, the only way to have ME take your bags to the airport is to ride the bus with them.

Getting a rental car after you get to Disney is pretty easy. From a DVC standpoint, your best bet is probably to rent at the Swan/Dolphin if staying at BCW/BWV, or to rent from Dollar at the Grovsner if staying at SSR/OKW. From VWL, either from one of the DTD hotels or from the Car Care Center. Both the Car Care Center and Dollar have have shuttels that will pick you up.

You can rent a car at the Dolphin or the Car Care Center near MK. We done it a couple of times. We got complimentary Bus shuttle to and from our Disney resort. It was very easy.
