Can I have the magical express take me to a hotel other than the one I'm staying at? I'm worried I'm going to miss my dinner reservation if I go to my hotel first

No. They will only take you to the hotel you are staying at. You'll have to either change your dinner reservation or cancel it.

no.
i suggest that you change your ADR time if you're concerned.

No again. I would make sure you have plenty of time to get to your hotel, get checked in, etc. and then still give yourself plenty of time for arrival. We had dinner at Chef Mickeys our first night but were staying at Allstar Movies. It took us about an hour by the time we arrived at Allstars until we got to Contemporary. We took the bus to MK and then hopped the monorail to Contemp.

1. What time does your flight arrive?
2. What time is your ADR?
3. What resort are you staying at?
4. Where is your ADR?

And it's not simply the case you could hop off ME at a different hotel. Not every bus goes to every hotel.

Can take a cab or Uber to the other hotel and guest services will watch your bags while you eat. But that is a pain.

No. But you MIGHT get lucky and have the ME stopping at the hotel where your have your ADR, and if that happens, you could just get off. But that's not something that you can count on, and you have no way of knowing until you actually get on the ME bus.

you can't request a stop on DME. they will take you to whatever resort you are registered with.

Yeah, this is going to be your only hope with the MDE, since once you're on the bus they don't track who gets off where. The question we all would want to know is what resort are you staying at and what restaurant do you have ADR's for? Given those we could tell you the likelihood of this plan working.

The others have answered your question. I'd just like to add that we don't make ADRs for our arrival day unless we have a VERY early flight. The likelihood of flight delays is just too high for us to be worried about making it to a reservation on a travel day.

We had a non-stop flight booked to LAX for a DLR visit, scheduled to arrive at 10:00 am from Ohio. Got to the airport to learn that flight had been cancelled for maintenance, and we were rebooked on a flight through Detroit. By the time we got to our hotel it was 9:30 pm.

Don't they have different lines set up at the airport based on the resorts the buses will be going to? How about if you register at the desk, but then go into a different line than the one to your resort but that will go to the other resort where you have your ADR?

They scan your band to confirm at the other end of the line, too.

I knew I was forgetting something. I was just there in Oct but don't remember having a 2nd scan.

Even so, I wonder if the 2nd scan tells them anything about where you are staying, or just that you are scheduled to stay at a Disney resort.

Unlikely unless it is in the same general area. Also if you have carry-on's you need to collect them when you get off the bus AND you have nowhere to store or a way to get them to your hotel.

Nope, it tells them what resort

We've learned to never book an ADR on arrival day. There's too many things that can go wrong (or right!) that you cannot judge time. We've had early and late arrivals with Magical Express... so, we just use quick service and enjoy the opportunity to ask ourselves upon arrival "What do we want to do first!"

I believe that it tells them what resort so that: (a) they know that you're going on the right bus; and (b) they know if they have to stop at a particular resort that's on their route. For example, if the bus normally goes to Poly, CR and GF and the only people who board the bus are going to CR and GF I believe that they will skip Poly. So if you are counting on getting on a bus to get off at a different stop, it may not even stop there.

It definitely tells them where you are going. We had a split stay, and apparently I had on my MB for the second hotel (even though they should all point to the same information). At the 2nd scan, they wouldn't let us get on the bus as it was showing we were going to a different hotel than the one we were in line for. My wife scanned her MB, and it pulled up the right information and they let us get on the bus.
