Magical Express Questions

I have some questions related to Magical Express:

1. Our flight arrives late and we were thinking of staying at an airport hotel the first night. If we spend the arrival night at an airport hotel, can we go back to the airport the next morning and take Magical Express? What if, instead, we go to Universal for the day? Can we go back to the airport late in the day and take Magical Express?

2. Can we use Magical Express only to return to the airport? My son is flying in a few days later with a friend who will have a rental car, but my son needs a way to get back to the airport when he leaves?

Yes to all. You would need to collect your own bags and take them with you if you are spending the night at an airport hotel. Not sure what would happen with your bags if you do the Universal option and don't collect them. Presumably they would make it to your resort although if they are misdirected, lost or delayed by your airline and you haven't checked in for the DME bus ride they would not know that they should be tracking them down for you. Obviously collecting your bags and going to Universal for a day could be a pain.

YOu will need a cab to get from Universal back to the airport so why not just take the cab to your WDW resort especially since Universal is closer to WDW than the airport. But then again if you do Universal before checking in to your WDW resort what would you do with your luggage while at Universal.

You could, but that's a lot of going back and forth, and you're going to need to carry your luggage around with you. If I were going to do this I would either stay at the hotel in the airport or get a room only reservation at a WDW value resort.

You could, but it would be cheaper to just take the cab from Universal to your resort. Also, you can't take your luggage with you to universal.

Thanks for the replies. For some reason I was under the impression that Disney wouldn't let you take Magical Express back to the airport if you didn't take it to the resort. Not sure why I thought that. Thanks again.
