On our December trip this year, we have an 8:30am flight out of MCO to PVD. When I really started to think about this I got nervous. HOw are we EVER going to get three kids up and out so early?

My question: what time do you think the bus out of our hotel will be? 5:30? Yikes!!!!

Yup, 5:30, and I think you will have to handle your own luggage. I thought about this for our return to Portland, ME and realized I'd rather pay more for airfare than blast out of bed in the middle of the night. Of course, there are only 2 of us (DD16 and me). If I had to buy 4 or 5 plane tickets, I might have had to think a little more. Good luck with this.

Could be as early as 5:15a. You might have to be outside waiting for the bus as early as 5a.

A hotel by the airport your last night might make sense. A later flight might make sense.

We usually get an early morning flight when flying from anywhere BUT disney. Crowds at the airports are better in the morning, but when coming home this time our flight is at 1:30!! :thumbsup2 I took ME into consideration this time, NO WAY I would be up and ready to go by 5 am let alone the rest of my family!!

Good luck! Sending pixie dust to help you wake up that morning!!! pixiedust:

Your DME bus will be scheduled roughly 3 hours before you flight, even in the early hours of the morning. And you will need to be at the stop, with everyone ready to go, 15 minutes before that. The busses do come early sometimes, even then. One of our first times using DME my dad almost missed his bus because I didn't know that at the time.:rolleyes1

We always take the latest flight out and check our bags at the front desk. Then we check out and have a good eight hours where we can still do stuff before we have to get back to our resort to catch the DME.

Have fun.:thumbsup2

We just returned from our Disney trip yesterday - 7am flight, 4:15am ME. Yes, that was an early one! MK was open til 3am with EMH, we considered staying awake all night for about 3 seconds, until we realized we're in our 40's with a 2year old in tow.(There were a few folks swimming as we left our room at 4am!)

It was a scary ride to the airport though, sitting right behind the driver, we were nearly to the airport when I noticed the driver was having a really hard time staying awake! I told my husband, who walked up and asked if he was OK. He said he was, and he seemed to be a little better. Husband kept a keen eye on him the rest of the ride. We let Disney know when we arrived at the airport. We've taken ME several times over the last few years, but this was the first time I wished there were seat belts on the bus.
