Magical Express question......

Hello,
I'm new to this whole forum thing but I love that there is sooooo much info here! I have a question about the ME......Here's our story, a friend is renting us points on his DVC and we are staying at the AKL from 12/6-12/12....but we are flying in on the 5th to see some friends and will be staying at another resort (on property). Instead of shlepping all our bags from 1 hotel to the other can I have our luggage delivered to the AKL and just keep what we will need for the 5th with us?? Or because we aren't due to check in at AKL untill the next day will they have a problem with that? Just trying to get my ducks in a row! Thanks!

i don't think you can do this. i may be mistaken (and i'm sure someone with more knowledge will correct me) but i believe you and your luggage need to be arriving at the same time and traveling to the same place (though on separate buses).

is shipping stuff down ahead of time an option for you? you could ship things for you main vacation ahead of time and just bring the immediate needs with you for the first part.

Your Magical Express reservation is tied to your room reservation. Your yellow tagged baggage will be delivered to the resort you are checking in to for your first night.

If you reserve Magical Express only for your second stay (Animal Kingdom Lodge) you won't be able to ride it the day before.

Can ME not be reserved for 12/5 to the resort that you are staying at the first night and then ask the resort to transfer your luggage to AKL for the remainder of your trip? I know that when we moved resorts on our past trip, they tagged our luggage and we put everything by the door (inside the room of course) as we headed out to the parks that morning. When we returned from the parks to the new room later that evening, our luggage was there.

Wouldn't hurt to try being you are staying on property the 5th and the 6th.

If you are on property for the night of the 5th, have a one-way arrival ME put on that reservation. It's OK for just a room only res, assuming you are named on the reservation.

Have another one-way res on your AK stay for your return flight date.

Oh, yes you can do this. It is still considered a DME luggage delivery to your first resort plus a separate "split stay" luggage transfer to your second resort.
