Magical Express Question--large group

I'm travelling to WDW with 20+ other people in January. As part of the conference, the group will use Magical Express. My husband & I prefer to rent a car. Is there anything that prohibits us from doing that, being part of a larger group? We will only have a carry-on bag. We do plan to use ME going back to the airport, so we can check in at the airport with the rest of the group.

I hope this makes sense....

I'm told that the persons whose names are on each room reservation need to show up at the ME welcoming desk at the airport.

hmmm...I wonder if the people running the conference can make a notation that we do not require ME. My husband & I are the only ones listed in our room, maybe that's a possibility.

We can always pick up a car from the Car Care Center when we arrive on property, but picking up the car at the airport seems more efficient.
