Magical Express Question...Just Added A Extra Night To The Start of Reservation

I called today to add a "room only" night to the start of our package reservation which of course generated a separate confirmation number for that night.
My question is... Is this going to mess up our Magical Express booklet/ luggage tags, etc. I just called Magical Express to update our arrival day, new confirmation number and new flight info but I am concerned everything will be all messed up now because Disney isn't very good at making changes correctly.
Anyone have experience with this? Am I going to get two of everything? Will at least one be correct? We are still 54 days out if that makes a difference.

PS
AirTran changed our flight time so they we kind enough to allow me to switch our flight to the day before at no charge. I was so happy!!!

Thanks for any insight!!! :thumbsup2

When I've done split stays, which is essentially what you are doing, since you have two reservations (even though they are at the same resort), they've always sent me two DME pkts. Due to the way AP discounts fell I once had a ressie for one night at rack rate, then used the AP discount for next seven nights, all at CSR. Even though I was at CSR for the entire trip, they still sent two pkts and two sets of DME luggage tags. Both were correct. I've also done split stays at different resorts and again have always received two DME pkts and two sets of luggage tags. I have yet to have a problem. All info was always correct. In your first DME pkt, it will show the flight number and time for your arrival flight, but the next page where the departing flight goes, will be blank (or say 'flight info not given'). Your vouchers to get on the DME bus will show your arrival date and may have the departing date as the very next day. Don't worry about it. In the second DME pkt, the arriving flight will blank, but it will show your departing flight and time. The bus vouchers in that pkt will have the dates for the last part of your stay. You will need the travel vouchers from both pkts. The ones from the first pkt to get on the DME bus to the resort and then the second ones with your departing date on them to get on the bus from your resort back to the airport.

Oh, one more thing. As of a couple of months ago, they have started sending out the DME pkts a little differenlty. If you have a pkg, you no longer get a seperate DME and Walt Disney Destinations envelopes. The DME luggage tags, directions, and travel vouchers are now included in the big blue envelope with all the WDW vouchers and luggage tags. If you book a room only, you still get the DME luggage tags and a booklet in the smaller blue/yellow/white DME envelope. So you will get what looks like the old regular DME envelope for your room only stay and your other DME stuff for your pkg stay will be in with the big blue envelope mixed in with all the pkg components. I think it's like the 3rd or 4th page and just tears out. Right after the photo pass info and the page where all the pkg components are listed, you'll see the directions to the DME area, then see the flight info, then the travel vouchers, just before the vouchers for the arcade, water sports, spa, etc.

Thank you so much aubriee for the detailed explanation. I now have hope Disney will get it right!!! ;)

We too added a one day earlier arrival to our BWV stay to save $800.00. Now we can not use magical express because we are staying at The Swan:sad1: It is funny that the Disney bus stops there to bring all the NON Disney guests to the parks. The Swan is not a Disney hotel. There can be No accomodations for a DVC member who will be staying at The Boardwalk for 8 days. They were not very helpful . . . sorry toooo bad! I am very disappointed in member services.

You could take transportation to the Swan, next day go back to the airport, then take DME to Boardwalk. The benefit still exists for you, but it just doesn't make sense to do it. They can only take people to their Disney resort; if you were staying at Kidani the first night they could only take you there, not the Boardwalk, even if you wanted to play there first.

Since your ticker indicates you're going to Universal too, I imagine you won't be using DME to go back to the airport either; again, you could do that, then take transportation to Universal from the airport. But again, it wouldn't make sense. (if my assumption is true)

Remember, you're saving $800. That will help get you to the Swan.

Money changes hands on paper between the Swan and Disney (Disney Transport) for park bus service. It is possible the Swan could have paid for and gotten Magical Express but did not choose to do that.

Disney has a hit or miss record with processing ME changes, esp. if the trip dates are close. Best to call ME directly 1-866-599-0951 and see that you are in their system properly. Looks like you need a one-way inbound arrival transfer on the one night res, and a one way departure transfer on your package. As long as Disney recorded ME service needed for the room only, you can update directly with ME at this number. Have both Disney res numbers handy for ME to look you up.
