I read in an allears email newsletter that someone resported being told the Magical Express would start using Southwest Airlines as well in a few weeks.

Does anyone know anything about this? and when will it start?:confused3

Thanks.

we flew southwest this past jan and used ME!

what I'm wanting to know is someone said they will now be able to print your boarding pass and check your luggage at the hotel --on your way back to the airport for Southwest customers.

Anyone know about that?

(Sw is not currently on the list to be able to do that)

yes they will print out your boarding pass at concergie...we had NO problems.

have fun!

we were there in Feb and SW was NOT a participating hotel. I hope this will change for next year when we return. Anyone have updates if SW is now a participating hotel for baggage check in at hotel.

Wewere there this past August and SW was not participating. I sure hope this info is legit - that would be awesome! No more carting our bags through the airport on the way home!! woo hooo!!

We like Resort Airline Checkin so much that we will not fly SW anymore to WDW until it does offer the service.

Our last trip was in January and although we were not on SW, I did ask a couple of employees at the RAC desk if they knew if/when SW would participate. Neither knew but both seemed to think it would be this year at any rate.

ME is a seperate service BTW.

SW Airlines was not participating in early Dec. 2006.

Of course, your bags got to the resort *from* SW, but you couldn't check back in at the resort.

I sure hope the become a full participant because SW has been the best airline for our family to fly!

DBF and I are headed back to the world in August and are flying SouthWest...I've already given Disney our flight info for ME and there wasn't any problems...so I'm curious about what you guys are talking about? I'm confused...:confused3

You can use ME going to Disney - it's on the way home that is different. If your airline is not participating - on the way home you have to take your luggage off the bus, take it through the airport and check it in yourself.

We leave in 19 days (!!!) and so far, they are not participating. Our Vouchers do not list them as a particpating airline.

I'd love it if that changed during our stay though. :thumbsup2

Resort Airline Checkin is a service provided only by some airlines. With it, you can check your bags at your resort and receive your boarding passes. The hours are something like 5am to 1 pm. There is lots more info on the Transportation forum.

But it is independent of ME. You don't have to use ME to use RAC. If you are using ME but your airline doesn't participate, as someone stated you just take the bags to the bus yourself and then take them from the bus to checkin at MCO.

i'm sorry! i was confused too! :confused3

we used to ME going to wdw but coming home we did have to check our own luggage. so sorry again..:flower3: .

I'm going in May and when i just called yesterday to confirm my flight change with ME, tehy informed me that i still have to take my own luggage after our stay. No big deal for us :)

So, in essence, there would be a trade off with SWA... You can check your baggage before you leave for the airport and not have to lug it through the airport, but then most likely end up with B or C boarding passes. Or have your boarding passes printed out 24 hours in advance for a better shot at an A boarding pass and check your baggage yourself on the way home. Personally, I'd rather have the A Boarding pass and check my baggage myself on the way home.

Who knows though until it rolls out...if it does.

Perhaps you will be able to have lobby concierge print your boarding pass 24 hours ahead or checkin online and still check your bags at Resort Checkin.:confused3 Can't you checkin online right now and still check bags at the airport?

RAC uses different software than what's used at the airport.

Preliminary information said the RAC system won't allow a passenger to check their baggage if they already checked in. This is from posters who are in the position to know and seems to be consistent with posters Airtran experience.

You're right, we won't know until it rolls out. A lot of SW passengers won't use RAC if it deprives them of the opportunity to get an "A" BP 24 hours in advance.

I missed those posts and actually don't read any about Airtran at all.

But as a layperson, I've been able to tell the systems are different because on three different trips we've not been able to get a boarding pass for one or more of us at RAC but they've taken our bags anyway.:confused3 Puzzle me that! The first time it happened I was very nervous that my husband would have trouble checking in at the airport. When we got to the airport, United showed him as checked in already!:rotfl2:

Of course, the SW situation would be different. Almost the reverse. Time will tell.

When we flew SW last August I printed our boarding passes 24 hours before and we all received A passes. ME was great! On the night before we were due to come home I stopped at the concierge desk at POFQ - they were happy to print our boarding passes. Again we all received A passes - and there were 8 of us. We did have to claim our bags once the ME bus dropped us off at our terminal and we checked them in. It really was no big deal and everything worked out great. :)

Ok, so this is the first time I've flown w/o my parents taking care of the arrangements-can someone please tell me what these A, B, and C passes are and what each one means? (And what they mean to ME?):confused3
