I'm planning to write to Disney. We got on the ME bus at 2:30pm 2/16. We thought we were so lucky because we were the last passengers and it pulled away 5 minutes later. The bus driver did not say anything as to what resorts we were going to be stopping at. He drove a different route than I have ever been on. After about 15 minutes (still no greeting or announcements) he pulled off the road and waited in traffic. At this point we heard a dispatch telling ME drivers to avoid an area because of an accident. We looked ahead, and, bingo, we were right in the middle of a road closure. The only movement happened when cars inched forward to a break in the islands to make u-turns. After about 15 minutes of no movement, he finally started to inch toward the u turn area, and he made the u-turn. Then he drove around the area of the premium outlets, and we waited in gridlock there for 45 minutes. Finally, he was able to get out of this area and was able to u-turn back on I-4 and we were exiting toward the WDW gate area around DTD. This was now around 4:00pm. We passed OKW gates. We passed SS gates. He turned around and went into SS. He dropped off guests and then continued driving all around SS looking for the exit. He then drove back towards OKW, and entered but did not know where to drop off. He finally found the drop off area, and again took us on a scenic tour of the resort looking for the exit. He attempted a 3 point turn over curbs to turn around, and this exercise took at least 10 minutes. The bus was dead silent the entire time, as all of us were wondering if he was only inexperienced or possibly impaired. We finally got out of there, and he headed to POFQ and POR, but he passed POFQ gates, and people started exclaiming for him to stop. Again, he tried to back up over curbs, and got us in there. He then went to the Disney Bus stop and backed up over curbs, looking for a way out. He finally got into PORS at around 5pm, and the rest of us ran out of the bus towards the front desk. We were shaking and upset. I gave the cast members his name, and the apologized and said they would bring it to the attention of someone.
I understand it was not his fault about the initial road closure, but the rest of the ride was such a nightmare for all on the bus. He was clearly not ready for the responsibility of the safety of all of us on the bus. I tried to to call for help during the ride but could not get a human to answer at ME or WDW.

No offense, but if I had the slightest suspicion that my bus driver was possibly impaired, I would demand that my family and I be let off the bus immediately. If he/she refused, I would call the police.

The three-point turn over a curb would be enough for me to feel that way.

Don't get why a lot of people get upset at Disney when something goes wrong with ME. The Magical Express is operated by Mears, which is not affiliated in any way by Disney, except the fact they operate buses for them. You best bet would be to contact Mears and explain, Disney can't do anything more than say sorry and notify Mears.

Seriously? Mears reports to Disney, basically. Yes, they own and drive the buses. But they are representing Disney. DME is a service provided by Disney, for their guests. All complaints should go to Disney. Mears really won't care. Not unless its Disney yapping at them.

Wow! I would've nervously laughed the entire time if it wasn't such a long experience. I'm sorry you were stuck on there for 3hrs.

Wow...that's terrible. Sorry you have to go through that.

Another reason why I rent my own ride.

I feel the same way you do. Disney advertises it as their service, and they should demand exceptional service from their contactor.:)
