We are arriving in Orlando at 9:30 PM and are staying at All-Star Movies for one night before our 5 nights at our DVC resort. Is it possible to just pack a carry-on with what we need for that night and the next day and have all of our luggage delivered to BWV (we are doing Magical Express) and we will just meet our bags there at check-in the next day.

I don't believe so. I think they will only take the bags to the resort that you are staying.

But, when you check in to All Star, I would assume you can go to bell services and tell them to just hold your luggage when it arrives (and not take it to your room). You can probably set up with them at that time to have the luggage transferred first thing in the AM to the new resort.

I beleve this can be done. Your bags are going to BWV and the arrival date will say the next day on the tags. Call ME and ask to be sure

No you can't do this, your tags and vouchers will be tied to your resort reservation, they will not send you tags for the BW if your are going to a different resort first, also if your plane is delayed and it is past 10 pm you will have to pick up your bags anyway, as any flights arriving after 10pm will no longer receive luggage delivery service.

I wanted to do this also, but with us arriving after 10pm, I would have to carry my own luggage anyway and then have Bell Services deliver my luggage to AKV the next day.
Everything is tied to your reservation with ME.

I just went ahead and booked at AKV because the luggage thing is a hassle.

This wouldn't be bad...Seems reasonable to me also, does anyone know for sure?

Also, I saw a thread today that said you can get your luggage and go and sleep at an airport hotel, and walk back over to ME in the morning and get on the ME bus to your (disney) resort.

How does that work exactly? Do you just tell MS that you need ME the next day after your flight arrives? Do you still have to give them your flight number (and then don't they question you on it when you don't show up till next day?).
thanks!

Yes, Mary - that's exactly how it works :)
Every Guest arriving in the area is entitled to one Magical Express ride from MCO to Disney, on or after the day the reservation starts and one ME ride from Disney to MCO between that ride and any time on one's departure/check-out day.

Your DME reservation is tied to your resort reservation....the resort you are going to upon arrival. So, no, you can not have your bags delivered to a resort other than the one you are headed to. I understand why you ask, and it does make sense.
But....if I were you, I would let Bell Services/Luggage Assistence know that you are leaving first thing in the morning, to move to another resort. That way they can hold your bags, not bring them to your room, and then move them to the new resort. But, be advised...this is not a quick service. Your bags may not get to you until late the next afternoon.
But with you headed to a DVC resort, you most likely won't get into your villa until then anyway.

Just want to clarify something-
Our flight arrives at 9:30. If we are delayed by 30 minutes it will arrive after 10:00. If that is the case I am responsible for all of my own luggage????? Am I understanding correctly???? So what do I do gather all my bags and then go find the Magical Express (seems kind of unmagical). Or does this simply mean that after 10:00 no bags are delivered to your room but they still get them to your resort.

For the first time Im doing a night flight, we arrive in Orlando at 9pm. Im hoping we arent delayed and till 10 and have to get our own luggage,

Jeeze, We are flying southwest so thats 2 checked pieces per person plus carry on..

Going for 20 days with a family of 4 I Pack alot,

Crossing my fingers southwest is ON TIME

If your flight is delayed past 10pm then you must pick up your own bags at the baggage claim and take them to the bus.

One thing you can do is stay at the Hotel AT the airport. You collect your bags at baggage claim the night before, head upstairs to the hotel. When you check out of the hotel, put the Disney yellow tags on your luggage and the hotel will hand them off to the DME folks and you can proceed to the DME desk the next morning!!

As far as taking DME on a day other than your actual flight, that is perfectly OK. The easiest way to accomplish this is to give them a flight number that corresponds with your arrival time at the DME desk. So if you want to arrive at the DME desk about 8am, then find a flight number that arrives at MCO about 7:30. It doesn't matter which flight or even if that flight came from your city. You are absolutely not doing anything wrong and are being transported within their rules, it's just much easier if you give them that flight number because thats how they are trained and that is how their computer works.

you guys are great. :worship: I learn something new everyday! So...there is a hotel AT the airport? As in, you don't even have to leave the airport? Not sure how I missed that, but do you have a little more info about it? And, how cool they can hand off luggage to DME. (what's it called and about how much $$ on average?).

Thanks for the flight info tip. It does make sense to give them a flight# that corresponds to when you are ready to board the DME bus. I'll have to keep all this info in my files for when I own DVC but want to save on weekend points! I could arrive Saturday whenever, and then get to the DVC early Sunday am to check in and head to a park!
thank you!

The name of the hotel at the airport is the Hyatt. Don't know if there is a name of the service that gets your bags to DME the next morning. Just ask Bell Services at the Hyatt. An appropriate tip will probably be in order.
