Magical Express - How long to I have to wait?

I made ME ressies on February 17th for our May 3rd trip. I was under the impression that I would have the luggage tags and information packet sent out not too long after that. Now that it has been over a month, I called again on Friday and was told that my ressies indeed are there, but my package will not be mailed out until much closer to my trip - at first she said they would go out in May, which was clearly wrong since the trip is May 3. She then said , oh, you are right, probably in late April. Since I have to get these to my sister, who lives in another city in time, I am VERY concerned. The cast member told me that I "should" have enough time to get them to her - if not, she can do the alternative of getting her luggage herself in Orlando and having the ME desk tag them then

That is NOT what I want to happen - with dragging 2 small children along, I want this to be super easy for her and for the process to work as it is intended

I don't want to be a nag, but, on the other hand, I made these reservations plenty early enough that I should have the tags no later than mid April I would have hoped.

How soon before your trip did you receive them? Do you suggest I send an e-mail asking about this? Keep calling and risk looking like a huge pain?

I've usually gotten the packet of information several weeks before the trip, sorry that I can't remember the exact number of days.

I would guess that you should get it at least a few weeks before your departure date and if it is that close to the time you leave, you could always send the tags to to your sister using priority (overnight or second day) mail. It'll cost more, but it would get there.

first off, take a deep breath! All is not lost even if you cannot get those tags to her! Just have them go directly to the ME podium and explain that her bags didn't get tagged, and give them the baggage claim tickets. They will make sure the luggage guys get her bags, even without the proper tag.

that said, I've known some who have gotten the packet up to a month ahead of time, all the way down to not getting it at all. It still ends up working out. Really the only part of ME you have to stress over is making sure they have your departure time correct, and you are assigned a bus to get back to the airport.

Have fun and I hope you get the packet soon enough that she gets the tags in time... even if she doesn't really need them.

Your date of bookiing DME has no bearing on when you receive your packet! Your packet should arrive about a month before your trip...they are usually sent out about 4 weeks prior to departure. So, you can start looking for it in early April.

we usually get our packet and tags about 3-4 weeks before our trip......for our trip this May....I did request an extra tag since Hubby will be bringing his golf clubs...this tag was sent right out after I booked DME in an envelope by inself....

I received my DME luggage tags last week - about a month before my trip. You should be ok. If not, no worries, the pp had great solutions.

I am a travel agent, so I have gotten lots of opportunity to observe Disney's patterns since I monitor my client's trips as well as my own!

Generally, you don't get any documentation from Disney until after your final payment date (45 days before you travel). The ME tags usually go out shortly after that date, so about a month before your trip, and the final documents go out shortly after the ME tags.

Don't worry! You should be fine!

That is highly unusual!! The vast majority of guests receive their DME packets about 4-5 weeks prior to travel.

I have often received my 'resort package packet' well in advance of my DME packet..have found that payment date has had nothing to do with my DME stuff. It is completely different...comes from an entirely different area of Disney. We have seen a lot of posters saying that they got their resort packet and are concerned that the DME tags aren't in that packet..just the hard plastic ones. We continue to tell people that their DME packet will arrive about a month before travel.

As everyone else has said, you'll be just fine and you'll get your tags about a month before the trip. I just got DME all set up last week for our November trip. The CM told me to expect to receive my tags about 3 weeks before my departure. Definitely in line with what I've had in the past.

Just talked to ME this morning and was told our tags will come about 10 days before our departure date.

But in my experience, it's always been sooner than that.
