Magical Express/Gate-checking questions - HELP!

Does anyone know if you can gate check a car seat? Usually we just check it in along with our other luggage. However, I was told that we can use the Magical Express tags on our checked luggage and have our luggage delivered to our room (bypassing baggage claim) even though we will be getting a rental car. Thing is we WILL need our daughter's car seat. We would NOT want to bring it in the cabin and use it. She will be 7 when we go and can sit in the airplane seats just fine. She does need this car seat/booster though to comply with the law (age 8/80 pounds) and to keep her safe.

So I have two questions:
- Can you gate check a car seat?
- Can you use the magical express tags to have your luggage sent direct to the Disney Resort at which you'lll be staying even if you are NOT using the commuter van but renting a car?

Somebody gave you misinformation.

Magical Express does not provide luggage-only transfers to guests who are renting cars at the airport.

Consider using Magical Express as designed, and then renting a car some time after you arrive at WDW, only for the days that you need a car to go off-site.

Even if you use the yellow ME tags for automatic resort delivery of baggage you can omit the yellow tags for one or more pieces of checked baggage and go retrieve those items from the carousel yourself.

Yes you can gate check a car seat. It will be waiting outside the plane. You may have to wait for a few minutes to get it.

You have to ride the DME bus in order for them to transport your luggage. One of you may ride the bus while the others go in the rental car and then your luggage will be taken to the resort.
