Magical Express Extened Until End of 2006!

I was just told by a lovely CM at MS that Disney's Magical Express has been extended until the end of the year!

I just booked a trip for November thru Expedia and they told me the service was ending in October so it was not available for us. Should I call Disney and ask them about this?

I just booked for December 06 at The World and I chose the Magical Express service. This is the first I heard of this. Is it really true? Why would they stop doing this for resort guests especially if we pay for it anyway(I am assuming there is a fee for it. I never checked when we used it in the past)? Anyone have more info on this?

I am confused, ME is ending all together or we will just have to start paying for it at the end of 2006?

This thread may help clarify what is going on with ME. I beleive all they are doing is after the first of November you must have a reservation to use the service. No walk-ups.(from my understanding of the thread) I didn't know you could just walk up and use the service. I always had a reservation with my package through Disney.

This thread may help clarify what is going on with ME. I beleive all they are doing is after the first of November you must have a reservation to use the service.

That thread is talking about November 1, 2005 -- last year.

Magical Express was announced at the beginning of 2005 and went into service in May 2005.
It was announced that the service would be free for eighteen months, through the duration of the Happiest Celebration on Earth, aka DisneyLAND's 50th anniversary.
Several months ago, Disney extended the free service through the end of 2006.
Nothing has been announced beyond that, however, it is assumed that after the end of 2006, DME will still be in service but at a not-yet-determined cost.

Disney is talking with the airport authority because of some issues. They are trying to get things figured out so they can announce what DME will be in 2007.

I doubt it is going away. Universal is thinking of starting a program so I doubt that Disney would close their program.

It wouldn't hurt to ask! I know that now you must have a ressie in order to take ME.

I'm going in late Oct also and have every intention of using DME. We were told it was going to be a 'complimentary' service for the 18 months of the celebration....this would be the end of Nov '06. So, Disney extended it to fill in the remainder of '06. It will be up and running, as is, in Oct, Nov, Dec.

I just called Disney and told them what Expedia told me and the CM said that she couldn't say if it would be available or not, but then she said it might be worth trying to reserve ME on the website and see if it would let me using my expedia reservation number. So I tried that and it worked, I already have a confirmation from Disney for ME. Thanks for all of your help and input, if it hadn't been for this board I would have believed Expedia and paid for my own transportation.
