Magical Express desk question

I was going to drop off a rental car at MCO after our cruise, and use ME for the rest of our stay at CBR, as well as returning to the airport.

Is this a stupid, time consuming move?

NOT AT ALL. Sounds like a great plan. You just might need to 'find' a flight that's arriving close to your ETA back to MCO when you call to make your DME reservations. I think when making reservations, they have to plug something in as 'arriving flight' so just find something that arrives close to when you are expecting to be back at MCO, return the rental, make your way to the Desk, and off you go.

I'd bring a small bag with your kids PJs. DME is now located in the "'B" side of the terminal. If your airline is an "A" airline, including SW and JetBlue, you'll have to walk to the A side, go down one level, get your bags, go back up to level three, walk across to the far side of the terminal and then go down to level one. The process will take at least an extra 30 minutes, maybe closer to an hour. I'd rather get to my resort an hour earlier.
Yep, had to do this a few weeks back, what a Pain in the butt it is too! :sad2: Now I have to take Spirit Air to MCO as its on the "B" side.

If I were arriving late at night, I would be especially eager to be on my way to my resort as quickly as possible. The last thing I'd want to do is to detour to baggage claim and to wait (and wait and wait) for my luggage — and then to deal with that luggage at the airport and at the resort.

I'd go straight to the Magical Express service with my small, carry-on, overnight bag. I'd arrange to have my checked bags delivered the next morning.
I agree. We arrived late at night with a 6 year old and 4 year old, and it was WONDERFUL to not have to waste time with baggage claim. With tired kids, minutes count, and it was great to just zip to our bus.

Okay, now for my stupid opinion ....

I just don't get people not wanting to take ANY carry-on luggage, ESPECIALLY late at night. What if the airline delays your luggage??? Then you're delayed even more AND you don't have sleepwear, basic toiletries and clean clothes for the morning. To me, a carry-on is like travel insurance, only it's free.

Ahhh, Eric..it's not a stupid opinion!!! I always carry a bag with me with those essentials. But, I know there are people out there who feel the need to have everything with them, so no amount of discussion is going to persuade them to take that carryon bag.
That's what I meant when I said the only time I would get my own luggage would be late at night....for me it's a non-issue. I have that bag with me, but I realize there are going to be people that don't do it that way. Perhaps they have something in those checked bags that they just have to have right away. I don't know...their choice though.

What rental car agency? National and Alamo have drop offs at WDW. Easier than dropping off at MCO plus you'll have a car for your first night.

I haven't reserved a car yet, but dropping it off at WDW might help. I wasn't able to get a rate off of the National site. It kept coming up that no vehicles were available to pick up at their Cocoa Beach location.

The Alamo site didn't show a Port Canaveral / Cocoa Beach location. Anyone know?

I know that National has a site in Cocoa Beach, or at least in the area. But, Alamo does not.

Is Delta going in Terminal B?

The Orlando main terminal is actually just one building, with two sides designated as "A" and "B". Now, granted, the gates are all remote and accessible only by tram - but once you're in the main terminal, you just look for and follow the "A" or "B" signs. So, Delta 'going into Terminal B' is really a non-issue. If it were even to happen.

Just another thought for the OP,
I completely agree with those that say take a carry-on and get to the resort ASAP. If a carry-on will not hold everything you will need, or if you require something that can not be taken as a carry-on item, you could mail yourself a package at the resort to be waiting for you when you arrive. Just an idea in case you need it :goodvibes
