OK so we know magical express will take care of the luggage. Up to now we have always flown jet blue where there is no luggage cost. But now we are flying delta. So if we put the bags through ME onDelta, are we still liable for the $25 per checked bag? Hate the baggage fee.

Yes you will have to pay the baggage fee. The day before checkout you will get a letter telling you what time you will be picked up and a number to call to pay for your baggage fee. You will have to write down the number they give you and then take it to the DME desk when you check your baggage in.

Magical Express does not check your bag. That is done by Remote Airport Check-in (Bags Inc), a company Disney contracts with. They collect the baggage fee and give it to the airline as required when you made your airline reservation. They don't charge extra for this service, so you are getting a break not having to take the luggage to the airport and wait in the check-in line.

There is an easy way around the baggage fee with Delta. Apply for the Delta American Express Gold credit card and you and each person in your party gets to have one checked bag for free. :thumbsup2

We flew Delta last week and didn't want to pay the $25 fee so we packed carry-on sized luggage. Since the flight was full both ways we ended up checking our luggage at the gate for free. If you do take your luggage to the gate make sure that you have your Magical Express tags.

This why Spirit started charging for carry ons.

Agreed....when the baggage fees first came out I watched a family of five EACH carry on three piece of luggage...most were full size...I for one am glad spirit started charging for carry ons...buyer beware. Oh and I paid for my luggage that trip...didn't give me warm fuzzies.

Sprit started charging for carry ons because that is their business model. Sucker people in on really low fares and make up the difference by charging exorbitant baggage fees.

As mentioned by various pp, you can either call and pay the baggage fee over the phone or the RAC desk can collect the fee from you when you check your baggage. And remember, RAC is like using the curbside baggage check at the airport - it is appropriate to tip. :thumbsup2

I found that I can put more in my suitcases/carryon if I fold my clothes VERY carefully and neatly. ;)

My husband likes to remind me that each resort has a laundry room. :furious:
I tell him if he wants to do laundry on vacation, then HE can do laundry on vacation, and he does. ::yes::

I always do laundry at WDW too. :crazy2: That way I don't need to do it when I get home. :thumbsup2

When I'm in a one bedroom or larger unit, I throw a load in the washer when I leave for the park and pop it in the dryer when I return. In a studio, I do laundry at least once during the trip.

I hate carry on baggage, the only thing I carry on is my laptop. I usually fly SWA, but even with the luggage fees, United was cheaper the last time. And when I called the number for ME to pay the luggage fee my return home, it was actually about a $1.00 cheaper than paying directly with United.
