Magical Express and split stay question

DH and I are thinking about heading to WDW for the W&D 1/2 Marathon in November. We are contemplating a few options, one of them being staying at an Epcot Deluxe (likely Boardwalk) for the first two nights of our trip, and then potentially moving to Shades of Green for the last 2 nights of the trip.

How does that work with Magical Express? Would we still be able to use ME going both directions (just bringing our luggage/selves back to Boardwalk on our departure day) Or would we only be able to use it upon arrival, and have to book other transportation to get back to MCO?

Normally you can use DME for a split stay but it has to be two WDW resorts (both on check in and check out day!) and shades of green isn't a Disney Resort and doesn't participate in DME.

You can do a one way DME reservation to the Boardwalk and then a town car/taxi/mears bus back to the airport. Sometimes its not that much more to make a town car trip into a round trip in which case you get personalized service and a free grocery stop (skipping DME all together!).

Alternately look into a value or moderate resort instead of SOG and Disney will move your bags for you from the BW to the value and you will be eligible for DME both ways.
