Magical Express and Split Stay question

Hey all,

We are doing a split stay this coming June--5 nights at CBR and then 4 at BWI. We don't have our plane tickets yet, but when we get them, what's the best way to deal with Magical Express? We obviously want to be dropped off at CBR but picked up at BWI. Can I just add it to our reservations online this way, or tell the ME people this? Just want to make sure I understand how best to get us to and from the airport, to and from the correct resorts. ;) Thanks!

When you reserve ME, they will know that you are being dropped off at CBR and picked up at BWI.

When you get your package, you will get a set of tags for your luggage for arrival with CBR on it. You will get a voucher for CBR pick-up. You will get another voucher for BWI to pick-up on your last day.

For instance, last year, I had a room only the first night and then a package, since my discount for free dining was blacked out the first day. It counted as two reservations, just like a "split" stay is two reservations.

I had two vouchers. The first came with my ME tags and transportation voucher for POR was in one book and my return voucher from POR to the airport was in the second book.

When you finally get your flight info, call Disney at 866-599-0951 and add it to your reservation. I would call rather than try to do it online, that way if you have any specific questions, you can ask them. As the above post states, you will get two seperate mailings. One will have a book / ME tags for your trip to CBR and teh other wil have your return booklet from BWI.

You will need to take care of the transfering between resorts yourself. You can have Bell service move your baggage from CBR to BWI, but when you get into your room at BWI, you will need to call down and have them bring it up.

Also, if you have the DDP, remember that your CBR credits will expire at midnight of the day of check out at CBR. If you have dining at BWI, you will receive the new credits AT check in. So if you are out of CBR credits and plan on using dining on that day of transfer, you need to actually check into BWI.

Okay, it sounds like the easiest thing to do is call when we have our flight info. No problem.

I do know we have to get ourselves from CBR to BWI--again, totally not an issue! We'll either send the bags over and go to a park, or take a cab.

We are paying OOP so no worries about the dining plan or tickets. My biggest concern was that I wanted to make sure we got to and from the airport. ;)

Thank you!

I'm thinking about doing a split stay in the near future and this is one of the things I worry about because Disney views each leg of the split stay as a separate reservation (I worry that Disney will think I want to use Magical Express to get to MCO from my first resort and that, as a result, I won't have any Magical Express to get to MCO from my last resort).

One suggestion I read for ultra-paranoid worry warts (like me) is to initially book your stays without Magical Express.

Then, when you get your flight info, call Disney and say you would like to use Magical Express to get to your first resort (giving them your flight information) but that you don't need to use it to get from your first resort.

Next, make a separate phone call to Disney explaining that you would like to use Magical Express to get from your last resort (giving them your flight information) but that you don't need to use it to get to your last resort.

Then, check online to make sure it looks right.

Upon arrival at MCO, double check to make sure they have the right resort and departure date for your party's return trip home.

Does this sound about right or is it overkill?

You might want to ask over on the Transportation board, but I don't think you have to go through all that. After all, split stays aren't uncommon, so I'm sure they're used to seeing it.
