On an upcoming trip, our family has two hotel reservations. Res #1- my mom and her boyfriend. Res #2- myself, DH, twin DSs 6, and DS 2.

DH and I are renting a car, and will pick it up at MCO, with DS 2 in tow. However, twin DSs 6 would like to take ME with grandma. Will the CMs allow the boys to board? They will be accompanied by adults, but they'll be adults on a different reservation.

Thanks!

I think the actual boarding will be fine as children travel with grandparents all the time but the issue is going to be making the actual DME reservation with only 2 minors and you do need advance reservation to board DME.

Maybe one parent can go get the rental with the baby and the other can ride DME with grandma and the twins?

Alternately but not ideal - have grandma add the twins to her reservation (in name only) then just make the DME reservation for that room. Decline the MB for the twins on the grandma reservation to avoid confusion.

Yep! That would be the easiest.

Hmm. Thanks for the thoughts!

We are staying via rented points, so adding the boys to both rooms would require going through the broker and owner, who might think this is odd or fraudulent (though it isn't).

Do you think I could make ME reservations for everyone (all seven people involved), then have just four of the people show up--the twins on our ressie and my mom and her bf on the other ressie?

You could, BUT they check the bands/reservations again as you leave the line to go to your bus. So it would pop up that the kids are "alone". I think you'll have to be really honest about this when you're at DME or really honest with the owner/broker. Just telling them that you want the kids to be able to stay in either room legally should do it (and it's likely true!).

All good points! Thank you. I'll have to think it through. And ultimately, I can just tell my boys too bad, you're riding in the rental car. :)

Probably not as you will still have two separate DME reservations and they need one person from each party to scan the MB (or the voucher) at check in and again before boarding the bus. DME won't let minors ride alone so I think the only other way to do this is to have one adult from the room they are registered in actually ride the bus with them. What will you do if they aren't allowed to ride and you aren't there - I guess grandma will have to grab a taxi as a backup?

I haven't tried this but it makes sense (at least to me) that it would work. Make your DME reservation for all of you (minus the baby). Then you or DH walk down to DME with your boys and the grandparents and let them know that you and DH are not riding but the boys are riding with grandparents. Give grandparents one of your magic bands to scan at boarding if needed.

I hadn't thought about that. I could definitely walk down and check them in while my husband is at the Alamo kiosk.

To answer the other poster above, our backup would be driving back to MCO to pick them up, I guess.

I like the idea of adding the twins to the reservation in name only.

OP is going to be dealing with a 2 year old and ensuring that the car has all of the necessary components installed (a car seat for the 2 year old and boosters for the twins). Not something I'd want to do alone with a toddler.

if it were me I would make bus ressie for me and the twins, then give grandmother my MB and have her be me while riding the bus with twins. this way checked bags for you guys could be picked up and delivered to resort without having to pick up and get to rental pick up. have a second ressie for the boyfriend for the bus at same time. for return trip to airport are planning all the kids to return car or just baby? could do same for return trip or just have it for the 2.
