It looks like DH will be flying home the day before me and DD's. If he takes our checked bags with him, and me and DD's only are carry on only the next day, do we still need to check in the morning for online check in?

I hope that makes sense:) Thanks:thumbsup2

Are you talking about checking in hotel, or checking in for airline?

Which airline? If it's SW, he could take 2 checked bags with him for free. More he will have to pay. He can't take your free baggage allowance for the next day. Other airlines, he will have to pay unless he has status.

We are flying AirTran. I was just wondering if I have to go in person to check in for my flight. We are leaving early and I didn't want to have to bring my daughters to stand in line at 6 am. So I thought if dh took our checked bags the day before then we could just go carry on only to save me the trip for airline check in. I hope that makes sense :)

DME (magical express) and the RAC (Remote Airline Checkin) are two separate things. RAC at Disney is optional and a convenience for those who want to check bags at the hotel vs the airport. So no you don't have to check in with RAC to take the magical express - you do have to have a DME reservation however.

If you have seat assignments you can just stop at the kiosks and print out your boarding passes at the airport. If not I recommend checking in remotely via cell phone or stopping at the concierge desk at your resort as close to 24 hours prior to check iin *& get your seats. Concierge can print out the boarding passes for you eliminating the need to stop and do that at the airport.

Thanks for your reply:) But what I am really wanting to know is if I have no checked bags, do I still need to go to the lobby for airline check in?

Which lobby are you referring to? The hotel lobby or the airport?

If you have no checked bags then you do not need to do anything at the hotel.

Did you read my reply by any chance? DME and RAC are separate so No if your not checking bags I don't know why you would think you have to go to the lobby?

As long as you have a reservation for DME and get your paperwork in your room the day prior all you have to do is board the bus to go to the airport. If, When, or Where you check your bags doesn't matter.

In addition - DME will get you to the airport early enough to check your bags at the airport if you need/want items for that last night. It will also be $10 cheaper per bag than sending them with your husband and the driver will gladly store them under the bus for you (tip appreciated!).

All I got the day before was the letter with the pickup time. I did not get a boarding pass, I got it at RAC.

You could pickup your boarding passes at guest services the day before. It would be easier to get them there than at the airport.

Right but I don't think the OP was asking about boarding passes? and if she was I answered that issue as well in my post prior to the one you quoted. I gave her several options other than RAC to obtain a BP and or check bags with or without sending then with her husband.

I "think" she just needs/wants to ride the DME bus but again I did offer alternatives to getting a bp other than using RAC.

I also travel as the solo adult with my 2 dd's so I understand not wanting to go to RAC early if she doesn't have to - and I don't think she has to:) Unless I am still not understanding her question?

I thank everyone who has responded to my question:) I have read each reply. It is the boarding passes I was asking about. I'm sorry that I caused confusion about that.

To clarify. You do NOT need to checkin to your airline in your resort lobby. Even if you have checked luggage, you can choose checkin and send you luggage on at your resort via RAC (3+ hours before flight). Or you could choose to bring your luggage on the DME motor coach and checkin at the airport.

Without luggage, i.e. just carryon; you can just hop on DME and checkin at the aiport. Alternatively, you can do online checkin and print your boarding passes up to 24h before your flight (i.e. the night before). The lobby usually has a computer/dedicated printer for airline checkin.

Hope that clears everything up. No need to drag your daughters to the lobby extra early for checkin.

You have to check in at some point for AirTran flight. Whether it be at the hotel, or at the airport, etc. You would have to check in for your flight and get your boarding pass.
