We fly into MCO at 10:10. I like the idea of not having to handle our luggage and use ME, but at that time of night about how long do you think it would be before we would receive our luggage to our room? Will they put it in the room at midnight when we are sleeping? Do they knock first?

Because of our late flight time I am debating just gathering our own luggage.

Does anyone have experience with ME and a late flight?

You can always have bell services hold the luggage to the morning. Just pack a carry-on for what you need the first night.

The last member of our group is getting in on a 10:30 pm flight next month. She's picking up her own baggage, but that's by choice, our TA actually suggested she pack the carry-on for the first night, and have the luggage delivered the next am.

I think it is a great idea to pack what you need in a carry-on & have them deliver in the morning. We also had a late flight a few years back & they knocked on our door around 1:30am! But we should have told them to hold the luggage. We haven't had a late flight since. :yay:

I agree with all of the above.

Packing carry-ons for your first 24 hours' needs is a smart way to pack under any circumstances just in case the AIRLINE delays your luggage.

Arriving that late at night, I am motivated to get to my resort (to get to my BED) as quickly as possible. If I have the choice of delaying myself by waiting at baggage claim (and very likely missing the next available bus to my resort), or skipping baggage claim, I'm going to choose to skip baggage claim!

Get me to my resort ASAP, please. I'll be happy to ask at my resort for my DME bags to be held 'til morning so I can hit the rack after a long day anf be refreshed for my first glorious day of vacation. Been there, done that.

So do we tell POP when we check in that our luggage is coming and we want them to hold it until the morning or do we tell ME when checking in at the airport?

Will Pop Bell Services deliver the luggage in the morning or do we have to go gt it?

Well, unless it gets there fast, POP (and other values) luggage services are closed from 11pm to 6am, so it probably wouldnt show up that fast anyway. Take a carry on with stuff needed (as stated, this is for ALL air travel not just WDW), let them know that you just want your bags in the AM, and call in the AM when you are ready if they havent arrived yet..

We have a late flight as well, I think we get in at 9:45 pm. I had planned on packing the nights pajamas--but maybe I will get the clothes for the next day in my carryon as well.

Tell them at the resort. Telling DME will do nothing. DME, as a "department," is responsible for delivering the bags to the resorts. Once the bags are at the resorts, the bags are the responsiblity of the resort itself. The cast members who handle the bags (after the bags are dropped off at the reosrts) are staff of the resorts' Bell Services departments ("Luggage Assistance" at the Value resorts).

Therefore, any requests you have about how the bags are handled at the resort itself need to be taken care of at the resort itself.

I hope that helps.

Does anyone know how long you can expect to wait on the bus when arriving late? We will be arriving at 11:00pm and would like to get to the resort as quickly as possible. We can look for other options if we will be waiting 45 minutes just for the bus to arrive or leave.

the first days clothes ina carry on. Two trips ago my suitcase went somewhere else. It took me two days t get it back.

It just depends on when the bus is leaving compared to when you arrive. It is possible you may have to wait, but it is also very possible, the bus will leave within 10 minutes of when you are checked in. Until you are there, you will not know. We used ME on our last trip 3 years ago (the first few months it was in use) and we only waited 10 minutes from when we checked in until we were on our way.

There are some GREAT threads on the transportation board about ME. Check them out!
