Magical Epress question (no luggage, just transportation)?

I have used DME three times- once I got my own bags and twice I used the DME luggage delivery feature. All three times things went smoothly twice we were checking it just over 60 minutes after landing. The longest was just about 1 1/2 hours after landing due to being the third resort dropped off (AKL). OTOH I had used the old Mears in the past and vowed never again :) This is much different and we do plan to use all the features of DME in April.

In your case I would consider using the luggage delivery feature for all of your luggage. Why have anyone wait at the aiport and try to lug it to the resort when you can have ME do it for free? Your luggage will arrive 2-5 hours after landing and will be delivered directly to your room - even if you are out and about. Maybe I missed it but is there a reason you are getting the luggage yourselves?

If you decide to have ME deliver your luggage just tag everything with the yellow tags but don't use the ones of the people who will get the car, (dh and ds). You should have enough to cover their bags with the other names. This way most of you can proceed to ME and your dh and son can just go directly to the rental agency and off you all go.

Sometime later your bags will be delivered and dh and ds don't have to try and deal with 7 peoples bags.

Thank you so much for the positive replies! I was starting to freak out a bit!

I don't think we will be using the wheelchair to get on ME, so that shouldn't be a problem. Exactly (round-a-bout) how far is the ME desk from where you disembark the plane? My mom can't walk long distances (hence the wheelchair) but she can walk some. I just thought it would be easier for her to walk to ME than hassle with the chair, unless it's a good distance, then we'll have no choice. I need to let them know ahead of time if we have the wheelchair, correct?

BTW, what a great way to spend a snow day off from school...planning my WDW trip!

If she could board the bus on her own, then you could use her chair to push her through the airport, then load the chair under the bus. Then you wouldn't have to deal with waiting on a lift.

I was thinking the same thing.
When flying, it is ALWAYS advisable to pack a carry-on with your travel documents, your valuables, any medications, and whatever items you'd need for the first few (12-24) hours of your trip... because the airlines are so good at "misdirecting" luggage :teeth:
If the concern is "well, how will I know if my luggage didn't make it to Orlando?", well, if you're picking up your own bags and something doesn't show up, you (or in this case the OP's husband) would need to first wait until the belt/carousel stopped delivering bags, then go to Lost Luggage, fill out papers... delaying the start of the actual vacation even longer. On the other hand, if DME is transporting your luggage, THEY will take responsibility for tracking it with the airline and delivering it to you. How will they know if something's missing? When you check in, you tell them how many pieces you checked. If they're not all there, it's DME to the rescue. Plus, with DME there's no hauling all the luggage around through the airport, to the rental counter, then loading it in the van, unloading it at the resort... it'll magically appear in your room several hours after you check in, you don't have to be in the room, and you don't have to tip Bell Services.
