Yes, even with vacation coming to an end, we had to burn the candle at both ends!

Late night at MK followed by early entry to AK. Of course we had to check out of the hotel first so that we could stay at the park as long as possible before we headed to the airport. Packing again so soon was hard, but as nice as the hotel was... we missed the weird towel animals from the cruise (and we did have some WIERD ones).
As we drove into the almost empty parking lot for AK we were telling the boys that DL used to look like this (before CA Adventure park was built). They didn't believe us! I wish I had photos from "pre-parking structure days" to show them. We met up with our friends by the AK tree and took some photos (yes, we take a LOT of photos - over 600 on this trip). Be happy you don't have to see them all - remember your uncle's vacation slide shows...I won't go there!
We quickly made our way back to Expedition Everest! Along the way we were trying to find a place to get some food (at DL there are many shops and stands along main street that sell muffins, fruit, nuts, juice, etc). We settled for trail mix from a gift shop. Yes, in this area I prefer the options at DL, but then DL does NOT have Expedition Everest!
We got Fastpasses, and decided to stand in the 20 minute line as well. Very entertaining cue (I'll save you from the many photos I took in line). Youngest son and I got to ride in the very first row!

SCAREY and such a blast!

In the front row you can actually see the track flip as you transition from going backwards to going forwards again. This ride brought up much debate in my family... does it go upside down while in the dark, or just corkscrew? Anyone know???
After two expeditions, we decided it was time for a Safari (for some real food, that is)! We walked toward the dinosaurs (no food), but the kids got in line for a Meteor coaster. While we waited, and waited, and waited... a funny/embarrassing thing happened. Well, funny for me... pretty embarrassing for my friend. We're standing waiting for the kids and husbands to get off the ride (which happened to break down right before they rode it), a woman with 2 children and a strong southern accent came up behind us and asked my friend if she knew "that you have a toilet seat protector hanging on your butt." Well NO of course she didn't know this! Hello, we're not out to make that kind of fashion statement! We laughed and laughed

and I took a photo!
So time for a real Safari, Disney style. We've been to many zoos, but nothing where the animals are a close as they are on the Safari. It was WONDERFUL!
A quick lunch (pizza again), and a walk around the Tree of Life (incredible!) and we had to say good-bye to our friends and head to the airport.
The flight home was not as great as the flight to FL. We traveled from MCO to LAX with a rowdy and messy team of 13-15 year old select soccer players (with coaches that ignored them). The flight attendants were a bit sour about it and sort of took it out on all of us- or maybe just those of us with kids. I got to sit next to a gentleman who snored in my general direction most of the flight (and no, it was not my husband - he was snoring behind me). My seat would not recline (again)! How do I get these seats?!

Then the gentleman next to me wakes up mid flight, looks at his watch and says in a panicked voice "why haven't we landed yet?!" I calmed replied that it was because the flight was only half over. Seemed to make sense to me! I'm guessing he forgot about the time change.

We also ran into some turbulence a few times during the flight - once while my middle son was in the bathroom. The plane was jumping up and down and he came back to his seat with a very nervous expression. I told him nothing was wrong, it was just wind currents, and he seemed to relax a bit.
We arrived in LAX, and the gate for our connecting flight was right across the hallway. WOW! I didn't think that type of thing happened at LAX. On our flight from LAX to SMF, my husband talked with a gentleman across the row from him who's family had just got back from Hawaii. It seems this man is also an Engineer, went to the same college as my husband, and flies to Asia almost as much as my husband, so they had a lot to talk about.
When we arrived in SMF it was foggy (and midnight, so fog is a normal thing). After the plane landed the pilot told us that due to the weather conditions, the autopilot landed the plane. WOW, thanks for telling us after we landed. I don't think I'd want to know that before hand.
All our luggage arrived (almost undamaged), and our ride home was waiting at the curb for us.
It was a great vacation!
