Magical Day in MK Using 10 Fastpasses

Can this work with park hopping? Say I want to park hop after I use a FP+ in MK. Could I get a FP+ for a ride in Hollywood Studios (taking into account travel time of course)? In other words, since this strategy was so successful, is park hopping a bad idea? The OPs success seems to be, in part, due to staying in one park all day. Is the "morning in the park, afternoon break, evening in the park" vacation a bad idea now? I will normally do a morning EMH, leave when the crowds get heavy (I visit WDW in the summer), break at the on site hotel, then return to another park in the evening. Will this strategy work in the summer with the Brazilian Tour Groups? Will us old timers just have to learn a new attack plan for WDW?

OP strategy worked. Let's see if we can build on it!:cool1:

To be honest, at this point, it's too early to know all the answers yet. In my mind, any one of the variables presented can be easily worked around. It's when you start bunching them together that things start iffy.

Park Hopping, in and of itself is not a big issue. In general, if you're looking at a short trip before hopping plan 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 FP+ or 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 figuring you'll use the first one closer to the 10:00 expiration time. But the goal is you want to have all 3 original FP+ gone before you hop so you can pull extras as soon as you get to the new park. On the way out of the park, you can try chatting up a CM with an IPAD that's not busy to see if they can make your first FP+ in the next park for you. Early reports are some know how and can spread that pixie dust and other don't or can't. Otherwise, as soon as you get to the other park. find a kiosk and make your first FP+. If it's a short trip to another park and you book FP+ early and the crowds are similarly light the 2:00 on part of the day should be the same.

Afternoon Breaks. yes you may lose some potentially available productive ride time, but you can make a FP+ for when you plan to return to the parks. Right before an afternoon break would be an ideal time to pickup a ride that's showing return times 3-4 hours in the future.

Combining afternoon break and park hopping potentially causes an issue. At this point, there are 3 options 1) wait until you get to the new park after the rest break to start pulling FP+. 2) have 1 member of your party travel to the resort via the park your planning on hopping to and book FP+ for the family while they are relaxing by the pool. 3) hope to get said pixie dust mentioned above from an Ipad wielding CM who will book you new FP+ in the new park for you.

Finally, throwing summer into the mix is a big unknown. We don't know how many FP+ of what types will be left over at the various parks.

If it were my trip, and I thought I could effectively tour the RD park without FP+, I would have my 3 prebooked FP+'s for my second park of the day at least until we hear more reports from people during busier seasons.

Hypothetical situation, my guess is the reverse would be the more productive. RD DHS prebooking TSMM, TOT, and GMR for example. Then, when you're done at DHS, hop over to MK for the evening. With the number of attractions available, I think the odds of finding "valuable" FP+ in the afternoon will be the greatest at the MK, then DAK, then probably a tie between DHS and EPCOT.

What does the following mean?

Arrive 5 minutes early to maximize .....

Arrive where?
Arrive at the ride to check in 5 min before your shown FP reservation time. You can get in 5 min early, which means you cut 5 min off the time before you can get your next one (which you can get as soon as you are off the ride)

Got it!

This will be real helpful if/when we can get our 4th FP+ on our iPhone.

So glad to have stumbled across your report of your magical day in MK! I've been somewhat discouraged reading all the negative reports about FP+ but you have restored hope to me and my family for our upcoming trip. Your day sounds exactly like what we are used to doing using the legacy FP. One question, though, is Gaston's Tavern directly behind the castle? We've yet to experience New Fantasyland ( been 3 long years since we've been to WDW )!

Looking at a map of the park, Gaston's Tavern is in the top right part of the park at the very back. It is not directly behind the castle.

I agree with this. If park-hopping, RD the first park and use the FPs for the 2nd park, unless you are not park-hopping until the night.

Awesome report of your day! You totally maximized riding!!! My question that I don't fully understand is, you used ur M&G for A&E but u rode the mountains before ur initial 2 FP times so does that wash them out and u don't have to use them just as long as u use the third one you're good?? I got confused with this part, I thought all 3 had to he used before u could get more. Thanks

Our 3 pre-booked FPs were Space Mountain 10:35-11:35, Peter Pan 11:55-12:55, and A&E 1:25-2:25. We rode BTMR (2x), Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain all as standbys before using the first FP to ride Space Mountain a second time. We then used Peter Pan and A&E before going off to the races. In the evening, we again rode BTMR and Space Mountain (2x), once more as standbys.

Thank you very much OP for sharing this info! It was very helpful in thinking about best use of FP+ I can't do the full day that you did but it's good to know that i have the chance of at least 5 or 6 FPs to make my day easier! And I am SUPER impressed by your DD btw!

Wow!!! Awesome day and awesome post!!! This will be a huge help for my Oct trip! I am an über planner and working with the rolling 4th has been stressing me out! Great idea about being near a kiosk when using the last prebooked FP...definitely a new add to my planning!!'

We are here at MK today and pulled seven. Could have done more but we had to head back for a break at 4:00. Exhausted! I spoke with a CM about how knowing the system makes such a difference. Today I am loving FP+! Yesterday at HS I wasn't as thrilled. Tiering really stinks. I really had no desire for a Little Mermaid FP and by the time our three were used there wasn't availability for anything "big". I fear the same thing at EP tomorrow. But we'll see!

Oh, and they've got to start letting you book through the MDE app. Finding kiosks can be a pain. Still feeling the magic today, though! :cool1:

~Wow! Pulling 7 fp's before 4PM at MK is pretty fabulous! Thanks so much for sharing your experience -- it's so helpful! :cool1:

Can you repost your list with the FP+ kiosks locations/times in them? I found when we had to stand in line for the 4th plus FP+ it made a HUGE difference in what kiosk you used as far as line lengths go! Some waits were 15-20 minutes which is really not feasible wait times for one FP+....:upsidedow

Anyone know if I don't use a fast pass and that time goes by, can I get another fast pass? I hope that made sense;)
