MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

My DW is now getting worried about formal night. I needed to buy a Tux for a work event, so I've decided to bring it all the way to Orlando with me, but my DW is now thinking she will be underdressed.

She has some nice dresses that are just below the knee, however, nothing that is full length.

Hopefully you don't mind me asking but if your dressing up on formal night what will you be wearing.

Any help appreciated

Paul

My husband, son, and dad will have tuxes. I always wear a nice dressy dress but not formal. I am short, everything is pretty long on me:laughing:

I missed my name on the Ornament exchange list - can you please add me? Thanks :santa: (Lisa)

I'd be interested in the scavenger hunt but don't know how to "do it" - is this open still?

For formal night I've worn a black cocktail type dress that is not floor length - but "tea length" and felt very comfortable with my choice - even while DH is in a Tux - I don't remember many women wearing the floor length gowns (we were on a NYE cruise) but I could have had too much Champagne to care :rotfl:

I'd be interested in a Secret Santa type thing - but I would probably be the only one out of our 2 cabins to participate - although my kids might want to - please let me know.

Still trying to keep organized and get it all together. I bought fabric to make a FE - but I can't sew to save my life so I'm thinking hot glue...... )unless someone knows how to do a no-sew version)

We hope that DH tux still fits. I have a knee length dress. I hope that it is OK.

Paul . . . I have a twin set (tank top with jacket) that has sparkles on it. I usually just pair this with a skirt or pair of pants. My daughter has a short skirt and I believe that is what my sister-in-laws will be wearing. You will see a little bit of everything. I usually feel a black dress no matter what the length will fit in great.

I'll try to post a picture from our last cruise. . . in this picture I have pants on.

My DW is 5ft 2", so she would be buying a petite long dress :confused3

We may skip formal night in the dining room in favor to Topsiders as I want to eat at Topsiders for dinner a couple of times since I haven't done that before. Plus DH has already said "no way" to taking a suit or tie, although I may still pack one of his Mickey ties in case he changes his mind. I told him that I want to see about getting some pictures made of at least me and him if not of the whole family -- we had some good ones done in 2005 onboard and I'd like to get some updated pictures. But to get DH and the boys to be cooperative - ay yi yi. What we may do is plan for our pictures to be done one evening during the dinner time when we plan to eat at Topsiders - we can dress for pictures and then if they want to go change before going to eat, they can do that. Zachary is more cooperative about pictures than either Gary or Nathan - so if nothing else, I might get a "mom and me" picture with Zachary :)

But for semi-formal night, I will have a mid-calf-length black skirt and a dressier blouse. Unless I go shopping and find something else :) We're going to TN/KY for Thanksgiving so I plan to do some shopping while we're there - maybe I'll find something then.

I didn't get to ask DH about telling the kids on the 18th about the trip, but I'm leaning heavily that way - telling them that evening after school. They have short-days for school much of that week, so if we tell them after school on Thursday, we have a bit longer in the day to do the packing.

Golly - I am so excited about this trip!

Neither Carly or I are wearing long dresses. We do have flouncy, sparkly party dresses for formal night and a little less fancy dresses for semi-formal.

Can you add us to the ornament exchange list. DH and I have Palo reservations at 11:30, but I think we'll still have time to participate.

Please PM me if you want to participate in the Secret Santa. I'll need names and ages of anyone in your party who want to exchange a gift. I'll match up adults with adults and kids with kids. For the kids, I'll try to get age and gender to match up.

I talked it over with DH about telling the kids on the 18th. He said "You just can't stand it, can you?" He knows me too well. He said if I decide to tell them on the 18th, then as we get closer, I'll change it to the 17ty, then the 16th, and I might as well just go ahead and tell them now.

So I'm not. And he's right - I can't stand it :)

Happy Hallloween Everyone!

Thanks Tenya!

I'm wearing a Minnie Mouse t-shirt and my glittery Minnie Mouse ears at work today and have gotten several smiles!

My co-worker dressed up like me -- ultimate Disney fan with light-up ears, tinkerbell t-shirt, autograph book, pin lanyard, Mickey purse...

You guys realize that since it is now November, we can say we are crusing NEXT MONTH?!!!!!

Hope everyone had a fun and safe halloween. I'm packing the pirate costumes for the trip since they were successful for Halloween. I think Zachary will definitely dress up, and Nathan will probably at least wear his skull-cap and t-shirt, or if not, he has a PoTC t-shirt he could wear. He doesn't like the dreads-pirate-hat that came with his original costume, but I tried it on today and told DH that I think I'm going to take it for ME to wear :)

Cindy, you beat me to it. I was going to long on and say, "Guess what, we're going on a Disney cruise next month!"

I love the pictures of your boys and the decorations in your yard.

Remember to PM me if you want to be included in the Secret Santa exchange.

Kathy, mailed you out the pirate costume - slow boat to China way, 7 days - realized I had only worn it once and it was 2 yrs ago. I don't think it has ever been washed so about that. I put it in a giant ziplock with the other pirate costumes and just pulled it out and stuck it in a box. Didn't think. So sorry. Probably one rural post office to another. We still have a lot of people out here who have to travel miles to the PO to get and send mail. We are lucky to be within 7 miles of town for delievery. Kinda funny if you think about Seattle being only 45 miles away by 70mph highway.:rotfl2:

Was looking back at pictures from 2 years ago - better look at my sons pirate costume - he was only 70lbs and 4'7" tall at 14. But now is is 110lbs and 5'7" still skinny but I don't think the old one will work. Even teens change my 18 yr old was only 16 then, she looks so much older now:scared1: :sad2:

She was on TV yesterday as a PENN cheerleader (can't get over deciding to be a cheerleader for the 1st time in college, not her personality type, oh well). I got to see PENN get trounced by Brown but I mostly watched for the cheer leaders so it didnt matter.

I get to "see" her all the time through the magic of webcameras. Her computer had one and DH installed one in each of our computers so we see her once or twice a week. Tried to send her brownies, wasn't that successful but she said she was very popular that day.

Can't believe it's all a month away - 47 days to be exact. so excited. can't believe I wolk up at normal time today and my body didn't fall back an hour:rotfl: oh well.

later.

I can't get my head wrapped around how soon we'll be departing. I guess because this time of year I'm used t counting down to Christmas, but with us leaving home on the 19th (and boarding on the 20th), that cuts almost a week out of my countdown time. And with Thanksgiving being so late this year - we just have three weeks between!

I'm putting my FE gifts together today - I have the perfect box to put them in the keep til time to go, so I thought I should do that this afternoon.

Speaking of FE, if you haven't already signed up to participate and you want to, be sure to let me know so I can add you to the list along with your cabin number so folks will know where they are delivering. I'll email the list out on the 11th, so if you didn't get a spreadsheet from me before and haven't sent your email address to me already, be sure to PM me so I can add you to my distribution list.

I can't believe how close this cruise is. I'm spoending today finishing putting together FE gifts oh and doing school work. I'm so ready to take a break from work and classes. When this class finishes on December 8th i'm taking off until January 5th i need a break. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Gotcha now for the ornament exchange!

I've come up with a list of things to look for and take pictures of around the ship for the Digital Scavenger Hunt. We're all meeting at 9:30 AM on Monday, Dec 22 in the Promenade Lounge. I'll be handing out a sheet of items and off we go! We'll meet up later that day to compare shots and have a get together. It'll be a new way to add some different memories to your trip!

Hey everyone! Has anyone used space bags for vacation packing? If so, how did you suck the air out of the bags for return packing?
TIA,
tenya:santa:

Your stateroom host will do it for you if you ask them with their smiley little vacuums :goodvibes
