MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

We will be staying at AKL the nite before the cruise and going to MVMCP. This will be our first vacation as DVC members so looking forward to that. Anyone else taking in the party that nite or staying at AKL?

Mel

Were going to be staying at the AKL after the cruise. I'm looking forward to seeing the villas. I do wish they had the new part open. While we are there were going to check out the model for BLT. When those go on sale we may consider buying into there.

That sounds fun, Cindy! We are staying at the Hyatt the night before. I know a lot of you are staying closer to the port, though so it may not be possible for us.:sad1:

Shannon - we are staying at the Hyatt also. I think we get in around 1:00. I think my sister-in-laws and families don't get in until around 10:00 p.m. I would love to get together . . . or at least meet by the pool!

Anyone else staying at the Hyatt?

Kim

We have 3 crowded rooms at the Radisson at Cape canaveral. Ginny, Dad, and Alexis w/gin's kids are all taking the auto train and will be in Florida on the morning of 19th. The rest of us don't arrive to orlando airport until 6pm then off to Cape Canaveral for the night.

ATTENTION CHRISTMAS CRUISERS!!!

Did that get your attention? GOOD!! I'm very proud to announce the opening of our Cafepress shop!!

Just a few disclaimers:
I have it set to make ZERO profit. I'm not making anything from this.

I'm just the shop keeper. You order directly from Cafepress. You pay Cafepress directly. They ship directly to you. If you have a problem with your order you take it up with them. (And from previous cruises, their customer service is awesome.)

I've added just about everything that is available to "basic" shops aka free shops. Our design doesn't work for the dark shirts, so I didn't add those item. Whatever shirts come in both Gray and White, I have left that as an option for you. The Ringer Shirts and Baseball shirts come with a red trim option that looks really cute with our design.

Some shirts have one logo in the front, some have little pocket logo and big back logo. I tried to make something to make everyone happy. If you want something tweaked, I can try to do whatever I can to please the group.

I think that's it---happy shopping!!!

Personally, I'd wait for them to run a sale. I'll try my best to post here when I get a sale email....usually it's like free shipping if you spend X amount or 20% off.

Any questions or problems---just let me know!

It would be helpful if I included the link!! http://www.cafepress.com/christmascruise

Diana - it looks great! Lissa and Amy, thanks for getting the design ideas flowing, and Diana, thanks for tweaking and setting up the shop! We'll probably go for the white t-shirts!

I prefer white over gray too, but some people only wear the gray :confused3 so I gave it as an option.

It all seems so real now!! We need to start a weekly countdown!

Hmm, I wonder if there will be caroling around the ship. It'd be fun going from location to location! I just remember one evening with carols on the early December crusies I've been on. Maybe it'll be different on the official Christmas cruise. Anybody know?

Lisa Marie :santa:

Diana Thanks for setting up the store. Everything looks great! It does seem more real now thatexcursions ahve been booked and forms have been filled out. The next weeks will go by quickly.

Are any of you planning to do a "Live from the Magic" trip report? Or a trip report at all when you get back?

And are any of you as anxious as I am to see pics of the upgrades to the Magic? Can't wait to see the new tv's :)

Sheila,
By the time we got to to it (a whole 10 minutes late) we were able to get a reservation for the 2 of us for brunch, but anything more was out of luck. You might want to check again at the 75 day mark - they may open up more at that time???

I was only 5 minutes late and only the 10:30 brunch was available for the 22nd for parties of 1 or 2......and all the times were available for the 25th.

I got the kids registered and our one excursion booked - we are doing the Seven Mile Beach Break on Grand Cayman (we did this last year and loved it!)

Robin

oh - we are in cabin #7035 (but not doing a FE)
me - dh (ed), ds (ryan is 8) and dd (meghan is 6)

(BTW - thanks all for your posts of encouragement in regards to my mom.....just to update - she's had about 10 days of radiation so far - and will switch to chemo starting next week......i'm going to ask her doc for his opinion to me leaving the country for a week in December and see what he says.......but she is so a-symptamatic that I think (right now) that we'll be fine going and just won't plan anything else):grouphug:

We're staying at WDW, but we'll be staying at the VWL and having our 10th anniversary dinner at Artist Point, while the kids play in the Cub's Den.

Anyone else staying at WDW???

We are at the POP Century 12/17 to 12/20.....we are going to be a DHS friday night and going to see the 6:30 show of Fantasmic!!!

Robin (and gang):cheer2:

Robin - I have been thinking about and praying for your mom so I am so glad to see a post from you, and will continue to keep all of you in our thoughts.

I looked yesterday and the only thing available for Palo was dinner - nearly every night, lots of seating. I was surprised.

Not sure if this is true or not but I was told while onboard the Magic that they hold open half of the Palo ressies for those who book while coming onboard Saturday. So don't worry if you can't get a day or time now. Try again on check-in day. :goodvibes

Lisa Marie

who will be glued to the tv tonight when my beloved White Sox take on the Minnesota twins in the biggest series of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO GO White Sox!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We'll continue to send positive thoughts for your mom. I'm glad she's doing well enough that you're still planning to sail with us. That's encouraging.

I was only 5 minutes late and only the 10:30 brunch was available for the 22nd for parties of 1 or 2......and all the times were available for the 25th.

Yet when I checked there was only one brunch option available; it was for the 22nd and was for a party of 3-4, there were no openings for 1-2, and there was nothing at all on the 25th.
Maybe things came and went as people grabbed times, but didn't complete the process?

Apparently we had a TA/DCL mix-up and one of our cabins was not paid in full. (nope, not the dreaded computer glitch message - one cabin slipped through the cracks and really did not get paid off)
Of course that was the cabin that I had chosen to log in under. :rolleyes1
By the time I got logged out of that ressie, grabbed the info I needed, and got logged back in again under another one (watch Mickey swim, watch Mickey swim, etc) all the brunch times were gone.

Oh well, not the end of the world. I'll check online periodically to see if I can catch a cancellation, and if not we'll see if we can get something once onboard.

Congrats on getting that final payment in Angie (you were smart to do it early)
I'll see your :cool1:
and raise you a :cheer2:

Count us among the Hyatt crew.

The cafe press stuff looks great!

Getting in late-ish on Friday, the Hyatt seemed like the smartest thing to us as well. We'd rather make the drive over in the morning. What is everyone doing to get from the Hyatt to the port? Car rental? Disney Transfer? Towncar/van service?

Count us in for the ornament exchange - it sounds like FUN! Is there a price range?

It's starting to get exciting now, isn't it???? :yay:

I've got you down for ornament exchange Corinna. We haven't discussed it before but I'm planning on spending around $10 more or less. It's totally up to you and what you feel comfortable with. If I were craftier or had more time I'd even consider handmaking something. I'm sure whichever you do it'll be a wonderful momento of our trip for someone. :goodvibes It's just a little something to share with others.
