My dh spoke with our guide today and he confirmed that they are changing the MB program for Wilderness Lodge Villas effective April 1.

Instead of $10 pp buy back it will be $5 pp. Some time after that, they will be discontinuing the program altogether for that resort.

I hope this info is accurate, as I got my information from my husband and did not speak to a guide directly.

Hearing that info, my darling, darling husband put a deposit down on 200 pts this afternoon. We are awaiting our paperwork and will make our final deposit before April 16th.

For some reason, Byron back dated our transaction to February. I don't understand why, but he said he needed to do that in order to have more points available for our December 2002 trip which will be our next. Does anyone know why that will be?

I assumed that with an October use year I would have 100 pts from last October (100 pts to MB), 200 pts in October 2001 and 200 more in October 2002, providing I bank within the right timeframe. Am I right?

Thanks to all the veterans of this board for all your help. Hopefully in no time I will be able to help other new members too. :)

Your 100 points from last October will need to be banked and can be used from October 2001-September 30, 2002. They can only be banked for one year and have to be used within that year. They would not be available to be used for your Dec 2002 trip. Your October 2001 points could be banked and used plus your October 2002 points.

In that case...I need to make some ressies then. Thanks for the info. I did not realize that banked points could not be kept there forever. I guess we'll just have to use those 100 points.

Does anyone know if this means that New Yorkers will lose out on the $10/point MB program because we can't purchase VWL by mail in New York yet???

Pooh,

I hope not. Do you have a guide you can call?

I guess WLV are selling so fast that they feel it is not necessary to offer any promotion. I was a little miffed that my guide didn't call us to tell us that this was happening. I am glad I read about the change on these boards because I was really counting on that $1000 towards my downpayment.

I just got off the phone with my guide, and the above info is correct about VWL MB promotion being decreased. He also informed me that the use year month will change from October to either December or February. He also mentioned that there will a price change some time in the future, but no specific date at this time. He said that VWL will probably sell out by the end of the year. I'm going to talk to DH again tonight about DVC. If we're going to do this then we need to decide soon. Sprinkle some pixie dust for me. DH is a little skeptical, so I have my work cut out!!

Aargh! I can't believe we're going to miss this by 7 days! Since NY isn't approved yet, we were going to buy some VWL points when we are down over Easter. I guess I will be on the phone tomorrow to see if I can work something out with my guide. We would lose about $625. otherwise. Plus the fact my husband might just get mad enough about it to call the whole deal off.

It is a little surreal when a business is trying to do its best not to make sales, but then they will have a lot of employees, including people on the managerial level, with nothing to do for quite a while until BCV comes along if VWL sells out. It will also be an embarassment to have all those kiosks throughout WDW and no WDW property to sell. Also in the course of trying to slow sales they do it by the shrewdest method. Instead of killing MB all together they will now entice people to sell back half their points for only $5 per. They then rent out units at rack rate using the rooms provided by those points and thus will increase their profit exponentially over what it was when they bought at $10 a point. You can rent points for $10 per on the rent/trade board here. You can have people stacked up to the rafters begging for your rental points if you offered them at $6 per point (higher than Disney will be offering). In other words, anyone who has to wait until after March to buy should seriously consider not doing MB and instead set up their own MB program by renting out half their points after the purchase..

the VLW resort is selling so briskly that the incentive to buy (MB) does not seem to be needed.

There is NO way people should sell their points back for 5.00 a piece!! Don't forget you still have to pay dues on those points, which is like 3.60 a point (or something like that...) so you gain 1.40 a point?? Sell them on the board or ebay for 10-12.00 a point!

Well, obviously they want to slow sales for the Wildernesss Lodge... seems kind of ridiculous they didn't plan for the VWL's rapid sell out... Obviously they didn't read the boards in advance!!
